New Zealand in England

I'd go for Robert Key personally. He's been deserving of a place in the team for a while, and has certainly learnt how to bat in One Day cricket in the past year or so. Allows Wright to move into the middle order and have an opening partnership of Bell and Key. Sounds pretty damn good to me.

Mascarenhas isn't a good enough batsman to bat in the top 5. Shah looks good at 6, and Ambrose isn't batting well enough at 7 so really isn't deserving of a promotion. Luke Wright would certainly boost the middle order, possibly with him at 6 and Shah at 5. With Bell and Key opening. I'm a big fan of Key, he's good at using his feet, hits the ball hard and has all the shots. A recall to the England side has been long overdue for him. I'd like to see him in.
He's been very unlucky. The selectors have just ignored him which is completely unfair. It is very hard for him to get into the team though.
England will lose easily.

KP's Ego + Captaincy = Disaster.

No way.

No i form an opinion which is sensible.

Nice to see a fan of the Peep Show. Just a shame you love KP

Ideally, for the majority of the ODIs vs South Africa, I would like this team:

1. Rob Key
2. Phil Mustard (wk)
3. Ian Bell
4. Kevin Pietersen
5. Paul Collingwood (c)
6. Luke Wright
7. Dimitri Mascarenhas
8. Andrew Flintoff
9. Graeme Swann
10. Stuart Broad
11. James Anderson

There would be some teething problems at the start of the series with the new opening partnership, but they could get England off to a great start. I have moved Pietersen to number 4 to keep him away from the other attacking player, Mustard. Luke Wright and Mascarenhas return to their rightful places as innings finishers, Flintoff obviously can hold a bat, but not be relied on, he would be more there for his bowling. Swann would be the spinner, South Africa can't deal with spin that well. Broad is a must in the ODI side for me. Anderson can be replaced with Sidebottom or Tremlett based on performances.

No Bopara?
No Shah?
I didn't rate Shah at first but he's grown on me. He can get runs.

Bopara is a very talented batsman who could be very good. He needs to bat higher up. He's being wasted in the A team.

Rob Key
Ian Bell
Kevin Pietersen
Ravi Bopara/Owais Shah
Paul Collingwood/Owais Shah (For the 2 banned matches)
Luke Wright
Phil Mustard
Andrew Flintoff
Graeme Swann
Stuart Broad
Ryan Sidebottom

Anderson's been awful in this ODi series, he was quality in the tests, but he's been terrible in this series. Flintoff's far better. I'd like Mustard to open, but Key would do a better, more consistent job I feel. Mustard would be good for giving it bash with Luke Wright late in an innings. Shah unluckily drops out for Key, but Bopara could be replaced judging on performances. Sidebottom has to play, he's been our best bowler in both forms for the past 12 months, Broad's only just come to the party, still a key member though.

Id agree with that except Shah in for Mascheranhas.
And Bopara for Key. And Sidebottom for Colly
And Monty for Swann

And the Team.

1.Bell
2.Mustard
3.KP
4.Shah
5.Bopara
6.Flintoff
7.Wright
8.Broad
9.Sidebottom
10.Anderson
11. Monty

Both would be in the squad. If the Key experiment didn't come off, Bell would open with Mustard and Shah would bat 6 with the others shuffling up.

As an Essex fan, I know how good Bopara can be. But he isn't ready just yet.

What do you have wrong with Collingwood? He is a good batsman. He gets wickets, although I've never rated him as a bowler myself. England are a better ODI side since the split captaincy though.

So basically you don't agree. I love Monty but he's not an One Day bowler.

Panesar is a Test bowler. Swann is more suited to ODIs. I don't think I'll ever forgive him for yesterday though....

Im just not keen on Swann tbh and except Swann and Monty its limited. Rashid is not quite ready yet.

Im just not a fan of Collingwood and think Bopara and Shah are better batsmen.

Collingwood averages 47.71 in ODIs in Australia in 17 matches. Not to be sniffed at. This has been his best year in ODIs so far since 2003.

england haven't played other teams i guess except nz and sl for last six months or so as i see.
playing same teams so they now know them very well and still can't pull of series of wins. .very inconsistent. i used to like england team but no more.

no matter what changes they make. .they'll loose the odi and test series to proteas anyway. .and what they'll do is again make changes. .just fed up of too many changes.

We probably will lose to South Africa, but there is a very good reason for that - South Africa are a better side than us. It is all about learning.
