New Zealand Sri Lanka Twenty20 Series in USA

You are one lucky dude, Mark! I would have gone ecstatic after meeting just one of those cricketers. And you met seven!

You may never have a chance of really winning America over at all. The great anomaly of the USA is that although an immense sporting nation, their focus is extremely insular.

Few international events ever seem to hold the limelight. Reel off a list of major internationally competitive sports: soccer, cricket, rugby union, Formula 1, tennis, hockey... but then look at what they're competing with, things like NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA and IndyCar. The American bubble has a better ability to expand into the outside world than for the outside world to leech its way in.

Yea so lets just give up :sarcasm

The event was a smashing succes in USACAs eyes, a sizeable cash boost for them (Broward county owes the debt on the Stadium, not USACA).

There were quite a few Americans there, most came for the county fair type atmosphere with all the food vendors, music etc. Lots of shopping as well. One white american guy even hithiked from Cali to be there.

As for the SL fans, they came from all over the US, Canada.

A few USACA officals told me that talks are in the works for India to tour next year. That will show you the true potential.

Whats with all the garbage in this thread? The IQ level seems to have dropped massively while I was away :p

Why hide your face :(

Gay,

But in reality, I try to protect my privacy as much as possible. Dont even have facebook. Too many cases nowadays of people getting fired for controversial things they say on the net

I should find that picture of you in your car and stick that on, would make the picture much more realistic :)

How were they like anyway? Was Sunil grumpy? What did you and Ian Chappell talk about?

The security was super tight because Sri Lanka have the constant Tamil threat and Jayasuriya is an active MOP.

Some ass even flew an airplane over the field with a banner that said something about democracy in SL.

Anyways, there was a SWAT team assigned to follow the Lankans, for the Kiwis, just a few cops :laugh

Sunil was nice, we were just talking about the pitch and how awful it is. Chapelle and I were talking about an article he had written on cricket in USA.

I talked with Mahela for a good 20 minutes, he was telling me about how crazy the Windies is. He ordered a juice at 7am in the hotel in the Windies and he said it had rum in it :laugh

Ian Gould = super nice guy
