New Zealand Tour of India, November 2010/11

Bit of a shame really that this is going to end in a draw.
Dhoni should have declared and made a match of it.

In the end finishing up with only three genuine bowlers, and one part-time bowler has really hurt us on day five.

The likes of Vettori who's bowled 92.5 overs so far this test match, and Martin who's bowled 51 have probably just about had it.

I'd just bowl Watling, McIntosh, McCullum and Taylor after tea, as Dhoni is just being a pussy and resting his bowlers, so we should just do the same.

dhoni was never going to declare till bhajji got his century. by the time he got it, it was almost tea and a draw was inevitable.

even if he had declared at 200, there was a VERY slim chance of an indian victory considering the pitch is extremely slow and low...not much spin either.

Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Seriously the pitch had nothing with any of the dismissals. Gambhir was just terribly out of knick and wasn't sure of his off stump somehow ending up getting an inside edge, Sehwag was ran out, Dravid got a pearler on a length that just swung away slighty, Raina got a decent swinger which he tried to drive on the up and Dhoni played at a a ball that was too close which he really didn't need to. Oh and Tendulkar played a poorish shot to an inswinger which resulted in him chopping on.

Theres no indifference bounce or sharp spin it was just decent bowling and some poor batsmenship.

Told you so Sai, flat as a pancake.

Yeah but Martin was always going to get tired and struggle with the older ball. And with a three man attack with only one seamer we have done a pretty good job.

:D Amazing dramatic match, though it ended in a draw I still enjoyed every bit of last 1 and a half day. Laxman getting out on 91 was sad but Bhajji did well. Or I should say that Motera wicked had nothing for bowlers on day 5.

Sad to see Sachin failing in both the innings. And Gambhir's form is rasing much concerns now.

Also time for NZ to look for some other option than McIntosh, probably Guptill.

GReat knock from Bhajji, but bit dissapointed that laxman didn't hit Century..

Now i will be waiting for the next match :D
I Will be going to the match on day 3

Any Coming to the match ????

Its really annoying to see Indian media criticizing Davis for the lbw's. They never complaining when opponent gets a bad decision. :p
Indian Team can't just criticize the umpires whenever they have a couple of bad decisions against them and yet deny using UDRS. So India should accept all the decisions of umpires or accept the UDRS.

Doesn't the UDRS lead to different types of bad decisions? It is not completely fool proof, I think. Thats why Sachin, Dhoni, etc are not yet for it.

It increases the success rate of umpire decisions from 92% to 98%. Since its came back its been used pretty flawlessly.

NZ should be ashamed they let Harbhajan get a 100, that arrogant prick is not going to live this down for a decade.

Well I just find that stupid, if they had given NZ 240 to chase in 50 overs, they would have been just as much of a chance of winning as NZ.

At lunch he was on 60, so if they'd declared half an hour later he would of only been on 75 or so, it's not like he was on 95 or something at the time when I felt Dhoni should have declared to make it a match of it.

India are the team that wants to play on these slow and low roads, so they should be the team that has to take a risk to force a result.

Unbelievably their have been more draws between India and NZ in India than there have been India wins, I just find that BS. I think it's now 13 draws in India between the two countries out of 25 or so matches, what a joke.

Some of my non-cricket playing friends say what's the point on playing for five days and not even finding a winner, well this was a prime example of that IMO.

I know in turn you can say NZ should have wrapped up India quicker so it was their fault there wasn't a result, but those are just my thoughts.

I guess their thinking was along the lines of: why risk losing this test match to NZ when you know you're going to most probably win the others.

Knew this would happen anyway. And seriously, how dire is McIntosh...

Why should Dhoni have declared? I mean, it was the same captain that set NZ 600 freaking runs to win just a year ago.:mad

Also Franklin's been called up for Bennett.

IMO it's a massive step in the wrong direction, he's been tried batting everywhere, and bowling everywhere, and has failed every time, so it makes no sense to call him up again. I would have invested in someone a lot younger, or maybe even brought over another spinner as we already have three back-up pace bowlers.
Ryder's bowling is going to be a pretty big blow, if they end up playing Franklin because of it.

CG123 added 1 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...

Against India in 2009 he averaged a solid 290 with the ball, at a S/R of 534. :thumbs

James Franklin?

Is Tim Southee injured or somehow unavailable? I see him in the squad list. I think he should fill in for Bennett. Plus he can bat a bit. I don't see how you can pick Franklin ahead of Southee in the playing XI. Hopefully NZ don't make that decision. And who is Brent Arnel? Is he any good?

Franklin's been called up to the squad of 15 as Bennett's out of the rest of the series, they haven't named the playing XI yet. (I'm not sure if you think they have)

Not all the time, but usually when you call someone up to a squad you play him, or there wouldn't be much point flying him halfway around the world considering we already have four other players and there's only two match left.

Arnel looked decent against Australia in our last test series before this one, he's been around the domestic scene from a while. I'm guessing he may of got overlooked as he's more of a first change bowler kind of like O'Brien, so maybe you don't want to play him when you only have one other genuine seamer.
