New Zealand Tour of India, November 2010/11

Wonderful batting from Dravid and Dhoni. But meh Tendulkar has entered a stage of "nervous before 50", seems to be getting out in each innings in NZ which he actually isn't supposed to.

Getting McIntosh was really good too, India should go for a big win now.

Great day for India. I never expected us to touch 350 lead after Sachin and Laxman got out early. But Dhoni finally batted very well and Dravid kept his end steady for so so long. With the reports of wicket turning square and all (courtesy: Cricinfo), NZ face an uphill task to save this match. Harbhajan should ideally run amock tomorrow and finish them off pretty soon. Hope he does it and caps off a great series for him (started off with bat, try to finish off with ball).

Unlucky for Guptill, Taufel has made a few poor decisions now. The umpiring has been pretty average this series without being completely horrible.

Okay, the umpiring is getting quite ridiculous now.

Cricinfo says the ball that got Guptill out would have gone on to hit middle. I am not watching the game, but thats what Cricinfo says. Are they bluffing?

Pitched outside leg. I just checked cricinfo and if you look a few balls down after the wicket it says : "Replyas showed that ball which got rid of Guptill had pitched outside leg, tough luck for Guptill. A rare bad decision from Taufel."

Oh ok, my apologies.

Looks like NZ want to finish this off quickly and get some rest before the ODI's. 250 run deficit and India need only 3 more to wrap up a crushing win.

It's not easy to pick that the ball has pitched outside leg when it breaks from leg to off like that. Nobody really charged that as a poor decision until they saw a couple of replays.

Can someone give me the number for Tendulkar as a debutant wicket.

  1. Ujesh Ranchod: Zimbabwe (at Delhi in 1992)
  2. Ruwan Kalpage: Sri Lanka (at Colombo in 1993)
  3. Mark Ealham: England (at Nottingham in 1996)
  4. Neil Johnson: Zimbabwe (at Harare in 1998)
  5. Jacob Oram: New Zealand (at Wellington in 2002)
  6. Monty Panesar: England (at Nagpur in 2005)
  7. Cameron White: Australia (at Bangalore in 2008)
  8. Peter Siddle: Australia (at Mohali in 2008)
  9. Peter George: Australia (at Bangalore in 2010)
  10. Andy McKay: New Zealand (at Nagpur in 2010)

Total ten. Last four in just three years.

I'm not fussed over one or two bad decisions, but there has been a number of them so far in this series. I just think the UDRS needs to be used.

As for the Guptill dismissal, I thought it was quite clear that it pitched outside, especially since it spun a decent amount and only just hit him in line with leg. At first glance I thought it was a poor decision.

haha, some bad decision made it extremely easy for India. Sreesanth and Ishant looked brilliant, good signs before SA tour.
Harbhajan got some good wickets there, it would be good if he comes to form asap too.

Great win for India and a well deserved MOM to Dravid.
