India has very good chance but somehow they tend to save their worst performances for ICC tournaments except for 2007 T20 Wcup, they haven't been in any semis since 2007 ODI Wcup.

Quality players are those who can face any opposition in any pitch and condition. In the Indian ODI side can you name a batsman other than Sachin and Sehwag who can deal with these things? Most of the batsmen have some weaknesses. Just because they are playing in India, it does not mean all the pitches will be flat.
However India does have some good bowling options as we saw in the NZ series. If they bowl with discipline, it would be hard for the opposition to score.
And India's recent record in ODIs is not great. They had lost the series in Sri Lanka. The Indian batting in that series (apart from Sehwag) was dreadful.
However the Asia Cup victory was something special.

It was a nothing shot. There's no need to block a ball 3 feet outside off stump, you're not looking to score so there's no need to play. New batsman to the crease and all so those dismissals are going to happen I suppose.

NZ have been utterly shambolic in this ODI series. The fight that they showed in the test series made one feel if we had serious fight. But this has been a rampage by the Indian players.
