New Zealand tour of India (Sept-Oct 2016)

A slightly under par day for India. I would have preferred 30 more runs and the loss of 2-3 less wickets, to call India in front. Its even stevens right now. If Jadeja can add 20 more runs to the total and take us to 320'ish, would feel better. Our bowling has to be up to the mark.

Good innings from Vijay and Pujara. Nice to see Rahul and Ashwin also score significantly. I feel supremely confident of our batting lineup right now to deliver even overseas. If Sharma Ji is dropped for a 5th bowler, the lineup becomes terrific. Rahul, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Saha. The batting lineup looks supremely solid with potential to perform overseas. Next time we tour, these guys would have a lot more experience under their belt.

I don't understand how B Kumar can be dropped. India playing an unnecessary extra batsman in my opinion. Ashwin at 6 in India is a no brainer I feel!

I'm very disappointed personally with Pujara's dismissal. He's throwing away tons in my opinion. Rohit Sharma did what was expected from him.

I would have played Mishra for Rohit, not Kumar. Kumar in these conditions is a luxury. A third spinner would have been very useful. And Mishra can also hold a bat.

I think this is a well below par performance from India on this wicket, especially considering the solid start we had losing only 1 wicket for 150 odd runs.

It wont be easy to take a first innings lead now. I somehow sense that NZ batsmen will cope much better with our spin than Aussie/SAF/WI batsmen

India needed five bowlers. Instead they gave a place to Mr Brainless Sharma. Now I don't know what the fate will be our team in this match:noway. I hope Ashwin and Jaddu's rip apart the New Zealand lineup..That's our only chance.

Absolutely. Rohit needs to be dropped and let him play in the Ranji Trophy to earn his place now. Has Rohit been dropped from Test cricket yet in his career?

Do you actually follow cricket?
Well no duh. Following for the last 5 years. I guess you misinterpreted what I said. Rohit is always in the team no matter what. He's not good for Test cricket. I follow cricket just as much as others on this forum.

Wow. Jaddu was amazing. Almost all shots were sweetly timed. Hope he does something special with the ball now.

NZ have some gritty nuggets that will be hard to dismiss i.e Latham, Williamson and Watling.

Some atrocious captaincy by Kohli.

I guess Indians can hope NZ collapse or for a draw if we are to save the match. Kohli should've gone with five bowlers. Mishra would've added that legspinner X factor.

Good to see a balanced contest so far. It will be too early to say who is in the driving seat but unless NZ get a lead of of at least 100, I still see India as favorite to win this test match.

The contest has been even so far, but I still back India to come back here hard and get NZ under pressure. Even a small deficit for India wont hurt them much as its NZ who have to bat last. India need to make sure they don't give NZ a 100 or above lead. That would turn the toss advantage around and put India in danger.

What's the weather looking like for Kanpur?

2 o clock it shows there is some thunderstorms. I am hoping for a full day of play. We always talk about Bangladesh, Pakistan, Ireland going up and playing amazing cricket but we never see how much New Zealand cricket has grown. They are the only team after India that I like. The players, the environment, the fans its always great to see

Oh! Finally Ash got us a breakthrough. Hope this opens up their batting and we can come back. Very well played Latham !
