There is seam movement on this pitch though. The problem was that in the 3rd session their just wasnt enough pressure created by bowling in the channel. If you keep bowling in the right areas more chance of getting wickets..

Oram will never get a batsman out again with the way he bowls, only the batsman can gift him a wicket. Bowling 120kph does not cut it as a third seamer.

oram's attitude regarding his bowling has been rubbish though.

it's clear he's not interested in it and as his body enters the stage of his career where he needs to put hard-thought and work into his bowling, on and off the field, it was always going to suffer.

Totally agree. Patel's really lost it hasn't he. Hopefully when we play Pakistan in December Franklin gets the number seven posistion (Can't see us making spinning pitches) and Shane Bond is ready to play test cricket again.

If NZ manages to take wickets of these 2 bastman (Jayawardene, Samaraweera) in 1st hour and try to restrict SL around 350 then they have some chance,because chasing in 4th inngs here in sub-continent is very difficult...

Patel should never have played. I don't know what went wrong with him, but lately he's been bowling horribly.

He's pretty useless to be fair. That seems harsh but really its the bitter truth. I mean if you cant get wickets you atleast have to bowl line and length. Look at Vettori. Got spinners like Patel growing on trees in SL and most of them dont even play first class cricket coz their just not good enough. You cant bowl 3 boundary balls each over thats just ridiculous. And he's been picked on too and targeted. Pretty obvious.

I like how we're being aggressive. I've seen situations like this before and with other captains they would still be playing moderately. It wont be easy to roll over NZ as it was in Galle since the wicket is more flatter so need as much time as you can to bowl them out twice. 400-450 is plenty. Lets see how they go. NZ should hypothetically do well against Herath since they would've played Vettori consistently. It'll be hard work especially since its slow turn on this pitch. Need to use the quicks well to get early wickets.
