New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

Why couldn't Sri Lanka of done us all a favour and not give Patel all those cheap wickets, We'll have to put up with another year of this joke and his crappy bowling. :doh

So thanks again to the Sri Lankans, for just being a bunch of cruel & heartless monsters to all us NZ supporters. ;)

So how likely is it that once again, Dan will come out and have to save us from the follow on.

Gee Herath looks much more dangerous than Vettori has looked all series. His pace has hardly got over 75ks and so much flight hence more turn and bounce. Vettoris been much quicker and flatter

Correction how likely it it that once again, Dan and Jeetan will come out and have to save us from the follow on.

Sorry but I just know Jeetan will contribute with a 30 odd hat will end up being the second highest score of our innings.

Guptill's playing rather aggressively...learnt from Dilshan? He's hit 5 fours in his 22, only two runs didn't come from a boundary.

That's how Guptill plays, he's always batted like that for Auckland and since coming into the NZ team he's done the same thing. Terrible way too get out though, don't know what he was thinking.

It's only early on in his career but his made way to many starts and he should start going on with his 20's and 30's.

Oh and Daniel Flynn's proving us why he isn't good enough for international cricket. He isn't as tight in defense as some people make him out to be.

Vettori has tossed the ball up at times. He varies his pace and flight. To say Vettori has been quick and flat is absurd. Not sure we've been watching the same game. They're obviously different bowlers and I disagree. Herath obviously gets more turn which is why he might look dangerous.

Also Vettori bowled a lot to right handers, Herath's bowling at lefties with the rough outside their off stump. Our batsmen aren't as well equiped to playing spin. Vettori's had to bowl a lot of overs at the Jaywardenes and Samaweeras who are obviously top players of spin.

With that bat-pad 'catch' off Ryder he played that really badly. Very lazy shot. He does that early on.

but guptill's not normally this aggressive, with a strike rate of more than 100...

Vettori doesnt get the same turn he used to get back in the days since he remodeled his action due to his back problems. But yeah not denying he hasnt varied his flight but i dont think he bowled consistently at such a low pace as Herath. And your right it prob was because Jaya\sam are better players of spins so he didnt want to get too slow

No. But he's probably the most agressive opener we've had in a long time, also probably the best tbh. It's only a matter of time before he goes on and makes a decent score.

Taylor gets a life there, that was out.

Geez, lets not contemplate the thought of Jeetan solidifying his posisition any further.

The sooner a Bruce Martin, Nathan McCullum or a Tarun Nethula come in to the side, the better our chances will be of winning another test match on the sub continent someday in the future.

That was plumb. Another example of the terrible umpiring. 1 each way now I guess. Still, when an opener goes out it totally changes what could have happened. If Flynn was never in he wouldn't have gotten out etc.

Need a big partnership here. Like 150odd.

^ Bruce Martin is poor. Nethula is an exciting prospect, he;s a leggie isn't he? Pretty young, maybe in a few years. McCullum is a good all-rounder. Not sure he's really good enough at test level either. Good T20 bowler though. I don't think we should play 2 spinners as often really.
