New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

O'Brien's stats against India were not as good as Martin's so I am not sure its going to be a straight fight between Martin and Tuffey. Also recently seam bowlers have been getting some help so they might even consider playing three seamers plus Oram and Vettori if the pitch suits it. I think they will mainly go on form from the two warmup games.

I'm ready to give Oram another chance, he's bound to start scoring runs soon enough. If we go into the first test with Patel and Vettori playing I wouldn't care if he was dropped though.

O'Brien
Martin/Tuffey
Patel
Vettori
Ryder

I feel that would be enough bowling, and if Elliott comes in for Oram he could chip in with a few overs. Too bad Franklin isn't here, I reckon these conditions could of suited his bowling. (That's if we get the Pak-Sri Lanka pitches)

If Oram doesn't preform people will be calling for the selectors heads again. Franklin being dropped was just stupid considering he didn't do a terrible job against India and the form of Oram and Elliot.

I'd back Elliot to get some runs in these two games if he was selected. I've always thought he looked a good player of spin, Oram has always been fairly weak against Murali I think.

Well i dont think kiwi's have a very big chance of doing some damage. but if they can draw a test match and win a ODI i think they would do well. no disrespact for kiwi's they are a very good team with some batting power but playing agenst sri lanka in sri lanka hmmmmm

I don't expect us to win the test or One Day series, but I think we'll go okay. I'm just really excited to be playing Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka because it should test the likes of Ryder, Flynn, Guptill and Taylor.

Howsie added 19 Minutes and 28 Seconds later...

Oram's not doing too badly, he's just picked up his first wicket.

i am sure Taylor will shine, now he can bat but only thing about taylor is i feel he have a problem facing malinga. i have seen him strugle agest malinga almost every time he faced him .. yes surely NZ will give it a fight

Decent first session for New Zealand. Atleast our seamers were able to pick up early wickets.

yea, the ball swings a lot in Sri lanka.

Whats up with J Patel, I always root for him, he never gets to play enough matches for NZ, especially Tests.

He's stuck behind Vettori pretty much. I don't think we'll see much of him in ODI's either since Nathan McCullum has come in and down such a good job. He should play more test matches though.

Tuffey picks up his second wicket, nice come back so far.

He's pulled back his RPO too. Impressive. Without hearing commentary it's hard knowing how they got the runs. They could have all been edges for all we know. We should bowl em out under 200 here. Maharoof is an international and this guy's doing well so a partnership could be coming.

Chris Martin is awesome. He definitely shouldn't be dropped.
