New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

Its not like he hasn't been playing cricket since his been out the New Zealand side, Southee should of been in the squad he needs to learn sub continent conditions

2-74 today against an Australian academy team. Although he has been bowling very quick

They better bring back Mendis for this series. NZ are pretty bad against spin and also against Malinga so need to get the 3Ms together for this series if possible. Especially for the test with a very young kiwi team playing in the heat. Herath bowled well but he might just have to do time in the squad.

much as I like NZ, and usually support them against most teams, they are going to get demolished in sri lanka.

SL are more test ready. The only problem is their openers (though in honesty, their opener problems pale in comparison to New Zealands), Dilshan should move to opener in both forms but obviously isn't likely to be back in time for NZ, still it solves any selection dilemmas.

I'm not sure Dilshan is the solution for Test matches. In any case, SL would do well to find at least one opener who looks like they might of Test standard. I'm not convinced by either Warnapura or Paranavitana.

I expect India to win the Tri-Series

Well if Dilshan attacks and scores some quick runs like 80 or 90 then what's the problem??Well his fiery start an even give the Lankans some confidence....

Should be a good series, look forward to the tri-series.

If any opener in world cricket can score a quick 80 or 90 it's usually a good thing, trick is he has to actually do it

what is the latest word on Bond. Has he played any cricket at all since the last ICL? Will he be match fit? When does the New Zealand domestic season start and is he playing for any team there?
Sorry for the question , I am a bit out of the loop with Kiwi cricket atm.

Well he has been playing for Canterbury in the State One Day and State 20/20 competitons.

Will he be match fit, I'd say yes. He has already come out and said he feels 100 percent and has been training for 4-5 months. In the games I saw him play he still looked quick, faster then any other bowler on show.

Our domestic season starts in November I think.

Can't wait for this series.... Finally get to see a SL home series here on Sky... Hopefully the weather stays away..

I can't understand why the tri-series is so short.
NZ will face a very tough tast facing Mendis in the tests.
The need a good opener along with Guptill.
McIntosh has a very poor technique which will get him nowhere at International Level (though he did well against the Windies)

Doing well against Daren Powell doesn't mean to much.

It makes you wonder how McIntosh got into the team in the first place did the selectors not see how flawed his technique is. I would go back to How or Bell for this season and then if they are still failing try Watling after hes had another domestic season.

That's if Mendis plays. He got dropped for that Herath dude recently. Will be tough getting his place back because Herath was taking a lot of wickets.

I'd be fairly certain Mendis will play against us, Pakistan seem to have figured him out and he was pretty ineffective against them. Since we've only played him once don't be surprised to see him.

@Ari.

Our selectors are for the most part idoits. McIntosh will never be a viable option for test cricket, he goes through massive patches where he doesn't make any runs at all. I think the main reason he was picked is because he was scoring so many runs when we needed an opener, we couldn't go back to Bell, or Redmond. Watling could be ready to play Pakistan when they tour here in December, he did very well in the Emerging players tournament and if he makes early season runs I would give him a shot. From what I've seen of him over the last two/three years he is most definitely test class.
