New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

So, Bond is back for New Zealand. I am looking forward of reading the cricinfo's commentary about him.

His comeback is probably big news in New Zealand's media.

Franklin seems to be one of those players that only goes well in domestic cricket. Cumming is a pretty average choice, NZ need to more on from him.

The radio station I was listening to only mentioned Franklin being left out, maybe I missed the bit they talked about Bond.

Trust me hes not he was mainly a bowler who could bat a bit before his injury which is why his batting stats are very average.

Also looks like Styris is done, basicly shot himself in the foot when he retired from test cricket. Don't think anyone really minds though. ;)

That test team is pretty sad!

There is no way Oram should be near it, he is the definition of an out of form player, plus Mendis and Murali are going to utterly destroy him with the ball, you can also add that he hasn't been able to prove that his body can hold up for a whole test. I would also say that Elliott should be ODI's only, and don't get me started on Patel.

I'm fine with the rest of the squad though, I'm really happy to see Tuffey, he provides us with a good proven spearhead that we've missed. Cumming can cover 1-5 in the order and it's a well deserved reward for a great season last year with the bat. I like the Reece Young pick, in fact I really didn't care who it was because he's not going to be there for the next series, unless McCullum gets injured during this series and Young comes in and smashes a big 100. Van Wyk will have both the Test & ODI back-up spots once he's eligible.

The ODI side looks good especially with Bond back, but I would've really liked to see Williamson get a spot in the side.

It pretty much confirms we'll get smashed in the tests, but the ODI's should be a close contest though.

Prediction:

Test: 2-0 Sri Lanka
ODI: 3-2 Sri Lanka
T20: 2-0 Sri Lanka

It's way to soon for Kane Williamson to play for NZ, he has hardly even batted in one solid posistion for ND in his short career. He needs to bat at three this season I feel, then he might be able to push for a spot.

Howsie added 1 Minutes and 49 Seconds later...

I was surprised he wasn't picked because his bowling was really starting to look good again, his pace was back up to the mid 130's.

Bond,Tuffey has been called one more time, both are good bowlers...eager to see them back in action

Well the ODI series is off and a small tri series with India is on. Looks like ODI cricket is already starting to be reduced we have already started to see four match series rather than the normal five now we have this.
