New Zealand's Tour Of India Aug-Sep 2012

Excellent innings from Pujara, also love the fact that he is a Gujarat :P NZ struggled so much against spinners. Ojha and Ashwin were bowling good but NZ batsmen allowed them to settle down. Even though Kane got out cheaply today, he still is one player in this NZ line-up that I look forward to watch bat.

Looks like Ashwin is a different kettle of fish once he bowls on Indian shores. Very much like how Kumble started out before he started delivering overseas quite sometime late into his career.

Pretty excited to see what Ashwin and Ojha can do against England and Australia who are upcoming next to Indian soil. I think we can bring back Harbhajan later when we tour South Africa next year and have Harbhajan play overseas and have Ashwin play at home till Ashwin finds his bearings overseas too. People talked about dropping Ashwin after one poor overseas tour (and that too just his second series after his first one fetched him 22 wickets in 3 tests). Then what would they say to the likes of Dhoni, Sehwag, Gambhir, etc who are equally miserable tours overseas in recent times.

Pujara was fantastic. Hope this is the start of a very long and as successful a career as Dravid. Even 75% of a career as Dravid would be a mighty achievement.

With Dhoni, he just showed why he will always struggle in tougher conditions and against tougher oppositions. At the start when NZ fast bowlers were aggressive and tight, Dhoni took so long to connect bat with ball and didn't score for 20 balls or so. He should soon take the lead and opt out of test cricket and hand over the test reins to Gautam Gambhir. Anyways since Dhoni is targeting the 2015 World Cup, it makes good sense for him to give up tests and concentrate on the shorter versions. Also this way, we will have better captaincy in tests.:p

Dhoni just looks a different captain when he has runs to play with, he actually sets 'attacking' fields and what not.

Ah, c'mon guys, take it 50 by 50. ;)

Haha - indeed... Exciting to dream of a Pujara 400 though :D

Game looks bad for the Kiwis right now, but in reality their bowlers did pretty well. Take Pujara out of that score and it would have been a great innings for them. If you can bowl India out inside 1.5 days then you are still in the game. Unfortunately, the Kiwi batsmen weren't able to back that up.

Commentators noted it too, that the pitch started turning more on day 2 - perfect time for Ojha and Ashwin to go to work really. Patel was solid enough for NZ, but he will need to find a way to create more chances. Maybe more around the wicket to the right handers is worth a shot.

That was some pretty horrid batting from us. When you go to Indian you know you need to prepare to face spin bowling, and we obviously didn't do that.

Like Jason said our bowling wasn't terrible, and Patel was surprisingly alright. None of their big three really got going, and if it wasn't for this new guy who no one down here really new about we would've rolled them for about 100 less.

Wish we had a taste of Pujara in Australia itself. Wonder why the selectors dropped him for that tour in favor of Rohit. He was fit enough for that tour and even wanted to play there.

Good that Pujara caught you guys off foot.

The weather is horrible over here. It was like morning 6 AM when it was 8:30 in the morning. It is a bit better now, but I foresee that the floodlits will be switched on for the entire day.

Also, it may rain at times, not a strong rain, but drizzles can be easily expected.

5-fa for Ashwin, he's killing it out there, hope he get this last wicket before Lunch.

6-fa! Martin <3. :lol

India should win today itself. I want HCA to get huge loss by repaying to the customers as many tickets were sold for Sunday:p
