Nidahas Trophy 2018 - India and Bangladesh in Sri Lanka T20I Tri-Series

From this post I gather India should tour only strong teams like SA, AUS, Eng?
Well ever since the CT, India have toured West Indies for a full tour, while our boys should have had a well deserved break and they have endured 2 full tours in SL and in India, which is really a bit too much. On top of that, we are touring them for a third time, when we've just had a big tour of SA. It might be an honor for the Indian team and strengthen relations, but for us fans we don't get much joy from seeing Rohit smashing the hell out of SL. If India didn't play this, all the players would get a good month's rest before the IPL starts and then the tour of England.[DOUBLEPOST=1520178697][/DOUBLEPOST]

Actually, it'd be pretty improbable. PSL can't do without the big Pakistani names.
But yes, India vs SL again? Kinda boring, regardless of the circumstances of the tournament. Rohit Sharma will be licking his lips though :p
I was just thinking about why Pakistan couldn't play in this. I think it could be possible just like India to send a weaker, younger side. Though that would not happen, of course. :)

My strong opinion is that this is a pointless series and India have done well to pick an almost 'A' team and given rest to their marquee players (even Dhawan/Rohit could've got a rest; maybe they are going as to not dilute the tournament for the sponsors and broadcasters). Celebrating Independence with a cricket series is just so 1990's! There is nothing respectable about it that India have to go and participate in the tournament. It's all about the money for the boards involved.

Another case of misplaced patriotism in a commercial sport that's purely meant to entertain and make money.

Exactly my point and thoughts. Sri Lanka now has played India and Bangladesh so many times in last 6 months. Its nothing honoring to be invited for an independence cup when the motive is only to mint money. With Bangladesh not having Shakib and India missing big names also with back to back series the interest is already at record point low.

Fair enough in your assesment but recall India were at crossroads in the past, similar to those teams fans talk down now.

No member on this forum have been as critical of BCcI as I have but in this case I applaud them for participating!

Weird team selection. Batting heavy and playing two unproven allrounders (Sundar and Shankar) and forsaking a specialist bowler. The pitch report says that its going to be very flat and great for batting. In such a case, why do you need a batting heavy side when 2-3 batsmen might not even get a hit in the middle?

Also KL Rahul should have played for either Karthik or Pant. What's the use in having two wicketkeepers in the same XI unless one of them is MS Dhoni?

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik (w), Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Yuzvendra Chahal
We have Cricinfo as well

Lanka's new jersey looking good ad so are their bowlers.

Dhawan has been brilliant recently and he saved this one for us, unlucky to miss out on a ton but well played. Their bowlers did fairly well with those wickets.

Well done by Sri Lanka to restrict India here! India were crippled by the poor show of Rohit and Raina at the top. Pandey and Pant have struggled to keep the pace high. Dhawan has been as brilliant as he has been in recent times but apart from that, its not a good show from India so far.

Sri Lanka's jersey looks excellent. Great design work! Wish the attractive design work for kits returns back to international cricket. Less logo plastering and more classier designs would be great. India's Sharjah 1998 remains the hallmark one and possibly our best ever!

Two major channels Willow and ESPN are not even broadcasting this tour here in US. Instead they are broadcasting India A vs Karnataka which is great.
