Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

I'm so tempted to skip all my classes tomorrow to watch this. The match starts 8 AM here.

Will be getting up at 7 in order to watch it. My roomie's gonna be annoyed :D

Can't get to sleep at the moment. =/ Need to really to stick with the plan.

Who else has started there regime to stay awake (English fans obviously unless we have a horde of narcoleptic of Aussies on the board)? Went to sleep at 7pm last night and awoke at 9am, pretty beastly sleeping if I do say so myself. Today I'm staying awake till 4pm, getting drunk and having a massive meal to try to get myself to fall asleep. Shall then get up at 11:30 for the match and will then have naps at lunch and tea. After the days over I will have a quick nap till 8:30 as I have to go to work till 6pm. Straight to sleep as soon as I get back then awake at 12 and repeat for the next day.

Thankfully have Saturday off but I am at work for Sunday although just 1-4. (I think)

I will be dead after this in most probability.

I'm just not going to go to uni and will sleep through the day :p Got a crate of Carlsberg's a mega pack of mixed nuts and a "relatively" good way to watch it live, I'm all set for tonight! :)

Got a 4 Day weekend to watch this and will certainly make it up and till lunch. Anything more than that will be a good effort by my point. May try and get a load of work done whilst I'm watching as that will keep me active.

So up for this, going to watch Harry Potter until about 11, then get home to watch it. Unfortunately don't think it starts until about 1 o' clock my time :p.

I managed it last time out but I don't see how I can this series. I get up at 6.30 normally and get home at about 5.30pm. I could try sleeping from 6pm to 12pm but not sure that will work either!

I wouldn't mind it so much if they had a stronger value system. How can you drop your best bowler on such an ambiguous matter as match fitness (especially when he has actually played a game), but at the same time show unwavering confidence in your worst batsmen? It sends the message that you simply don't know what you're doing.

Exactly. Bollinger looked fine in the game i saw on live stream.

Plus i read also they they had concerned over Watson bowling since he pulled up sort of in the Tasmania game.

The only slighttttt waver i'm willing to give the selectors is if the physio or whoever may have suggested to them that they have some worries over his fitness for a major test match. Then maybe we can flex with them.

It will be interesting to see what they do for the Adelaide test. If Doherty struggles, Siddle & all the quicks bowls well & Bollinger plays in the NSW VS WA FC match in Perth & bowls well without breaking down.

I'm really grateful i live here in NZ, i think it starts at 1pm which is great. Although I do struggle through the series in England. Also this is probably a real stupid question, but they are using the reviews, right?

Are they still picking Siddle based on what he did in SA? That was so long ago now it was when Johnson was good so I think that form can be disregarded. I think they just don't like dougie cause definitely if it was Johnson in Bollingers position there would be no talk of him not playing.
Seems that way
Bollinger has the best bowling average of all the quicks, but Ponting said that a lack of match fitness had counted against him, as well as the proven ability of the other three to work well as a three-man unit.
Bollinger, and Clarke's batting cover Usman Khawaja, will fly out to Perth after the toss on Thursday morning to join with the New South Wales Shield side for their clash against the Warriors.

"A lack of bowling in the last few weeks has been as much to do with it as anything. Also, this attack, when it was together and bowling well, had good success in South Africa and at different times in England in the last series," Ponting said.

We all know Siddle has the potential but we really have to stop living on this especially when you have a bowler that is already living up to their potential.

What bowling has Siddle had more than Bollinger? Hasn't he played the same amount of FC games as Bollinger except for the SL ODIs where he got hammered. Siddle is just that kind of bowler who can really leak a lot of runs, Bollinger on this wicket would have been lethal I reckon. He gets a huge amount of bounce as it is, and he would get even more from this Gabba pitch.

Siddle had something like 140 overs worth of bowling compared to Bollinger's 20 odd. Still don't know if that was the actual reason as I'm sure Mitchell Johnson has gone into a match with a similar amount of overs and got straight into the side.
