NZ tour of India 2024 - 3 Tests

What a moment for Tom Latham. not many gave him a chance post some of his ODI decisions during the CWC 2023. But here he is- the man who has stopped the Indian juggernaut since 2012.

It is safe to say New Zealand have outplayed India and seemed to be the better team on all days. They seemed to have better overall skills application than the home team here.

Well deserved victory and truly a historic moment for NZ. Can they do a clean sweep?

This is probably GG's boom or bust effect. We saw boom against Bangladesh and bust against NZ.

The Australia series now looks like a distant dream if our batting continues to fare like this (not that it would have made a difference even if we had ended up winning this series). But this series defeat should dash any hopes of performing well down under.

In my opinion, it is too early to even pass a judgement on Gautam Gambhir. He was handed over a side from Dravid. To be fair, he has had some concern with his support staff joining late +managing back to back series+ fatigue of players playing right after WT20 +BD series.

Australia tour+ forthcoming, it is apparent that a transition plan is the need of the hour. Guess, the actual post mortem will only happen post that tour.

Pretty much agree on this.

It was bound to happen with or without GG.

Last Australia had under the mat in that Delhi Test if it wasn't for Axar Patel.

Even the England series I think somehow India held their nerves and England blew it away in both 2nd and 3rd Test.

On Rank Turners you will caught off guard in the other of the spectrum, somehow Individual brilliances, Spin Duo of Ashiwn and Jadeja kept bailing us on lot of occasions before.

This seems like end of an era, It all started when we beat Australia 4-0 in 2013 under Dhoni with Jadeja and Ashwin starting the roles as the spin duos

Kohli post 2015 got super aggressive with attacking field placement and bowling and went on a role in winning home games in like 2.5 days and some unreal batting.

Post Kohli Rohit had a similar job but with a responsibility of managing a young and a team in transition.

Everything has to end someday and it was India's dominance of 12+ years of no series loss at home which ended and will forever will be etched as one of the moments in Indian cricket history.

And New Zealand deserves every bit of credit for that.

How are India gonna compete like this in Australia, I think Pujara must come back as number 5 and frustrate the Australia bowlers

Thank you NZ and congrats on a series win.

Man this game put a tear in my eye. The forum seems quiet also…..all the noise serving!

Makes me feel to be a fan of cricket again!

Best of luck my Kiwi bros on a clean sweep!

I wish to write a bit about Rohit and Virat here

Rohit believe he is an exceptionally talented player who has been remarkable for India in the shorter formats of the game. His captaincy has been spot on in the limited overs and has rarely put a foot wrong. He is at home in T20 and ODIs. When he was announced as the Test captain, I do remember voicing a few objections. The sole reason he was put in charge- Rahane was woefully out of form then (perhaps still is).
The place where Rohit lacks- he lacks the temperament for the longer format. In each of his dismissals, wanting to speed up the game is the common link that has been seen. While I get his fascination to play a Sehwag-esque innings, it seems that he needs to revert to his older 'tried and tested' self. The Rohit of 2013 was known for taking his time and easing himself slowly into the game- in ODIs and T20s. This gave him a launch pad as soon as he was somewhat settled. The ICC WT20 loss in 2022 did bring about a change in him, but that has come at a cost, with him trying to hit out every delivery-this has been evident and on display in the CWC 2023, WT2024. While this may work in ODI and tends to set the tone for the rest of the innings. It does not necessarily bode well for the longer format of the game.

Virat has had a problem with spin for a long time now. I am not sure whether it is his aura/enigma that stops the selectors from telling it to him on the face. The easy way to get Virat out is by bringing on a spinner as soon as he is in. Also, I am not talking about dust bowls, he seems to have a concern with spinners on any kind of wicket. Social media is abuzz with comparisons between Virat and SRT, especially SRT 241. I believe that innings was a class apart. Virat is a good batsman, but he has his shortcomings and these have been left unaddressed for a very long time now.

gosh, i couldn't have guessed this was a 3 test series from the way everyone was talking about it like it was over

A Wankhede turner+ a spinner who took all 10 wickets the last time he played there. Whitewash on the cards!
