personally cant see the aussies playing around in this one, its gonna be all guns blazing with a full and complete lineup. Quick question, why are they resting Gilchrist, is he still tired after 5 months off?
I would think Australia would drop below South Africa if that happened. They would lose 4 or 5 points losing to a nation ranked so low.kodos said:Interestingly enough if India did beat Australia last night than the gap between Australia and Sth. Africa in the ODI rankings will only be 2 points. Currently it stands at 4 and it will be interesting how many points that may be reduced if Australia do lose to WI.

But by just losing one match and that too a final?nightprowler10 said:I would think Australia would drop below South Africa if that happened. They would lose 4 or 5 points losing to a nation ranked so low.
But with the amount of cricket being played these days team can afford to take some games and series lightly. Like irrotev said the Aussies wouldnt mind losing this series and the Champions Trophy if they go on and win the Ashes or the World Cup or both.gaurav_indian said:And what about the mini world cup?I think every match is important in international cricket its not football where you play club games against weaker teams and are not interested in trying full squad.Once you lose two three series in cricket everything looks different.
Looks like the ICC rankings have not been updated since the last match. Right now Australia should be 7 points ahead of RSA, in which case they will still drop 4 or 5 points if they lose WI, but won't give up their spot in the rankings.m_vaughan said:But by just losing one match and that too a final?
The rankings take only the last two years into consideration, and keeping that in mind, I don't think the gap between the top two ODI teams in the world is as big as it used to be. Australia are still the best, but they're not as unbeatable as they used to be.Sando said:The ratings are the official measurement, but I don't think there is any question Australia has retained their title as the #1 ODI team since taking out the previous World Cup
Since previous ICC World Cup
19 series participated in, 15 wins, 2losses, 2drawn
94 matches, 66 wins, 21 losses, 1 drawn, 6 no result
That's an insanely impressive record given things like the toss, moments of insanity (such as the runouts yesterday) can have such a huge impact on the game. Many of those losses have come in dead rubber matches, and I think only the recent debacle in South Africa was the only final lost...
BCCI are the producers and hence the logo. But I think they are using Ten Sport's software. I think the facilities at the ground might be affecting the broadcast.usy said:Who ever does the broadcastfor this series, honestly it really sucks, ten sports is it?
