And did he?

You are implying all these positive stereotypes that have no relevance to Katich.
I'm not implying any stereotypes. You're the one being overly negative and hyperbolic.

My point is, they obviously saw fit to play cautiously. Whether or not they should be less cautious is up to them only, if Katich had hit just a handful of boundaries, you would be less critical. He clearly doesn't spend every innings scoring 20 from 60 balls, look at his statistics, he is capable of hitting some runs.

Considering the last couple of matches, they have a much better chance of getting to 250 as a result of having wickets in hand. I'm not saying you have to commend every batsman who can stonewall, but it's not always the end of the world, especially if that batsman has protected some power hitters.

Speaking of, just look at Symonds, he's not going a mile a minute, is he? Are you complaining about him? Of course not. What if he goes out before he makes up the runs? Then he's just as bad as Katich, right?

Good old Katich :)
I'll let him off today as Symonds is going slow too. Watson did fairly well opening until he got out, that seems to be working well. Martyn finally doing something and as usual it's when his position is under threat :)

West Indies have a clear advantage at the moment. One thing Aus have on their side is having Symonds and Clarke at the crease. They CAN hit the ball miles.

49 off 55 is slow? I guess for Symonds it may be.

Yeah, he did start slowish. But at least he is the kind of player with the skill to make them up later on. Katich just digs himself deeper and deeper into a hole.

See, he wated all those balls getting in and then got out. By the sounds of it he was trying to hit a boundary. Fair enough. Aussies in good position now anyway thianks to Martyn and Symonds. Martyn really coulda done with staying in.

Well, Symonds can. Maybe not Clarke. A great combo though, Clarke is a quick runner and will take some good singles, twos and threes and the odd cheeky boundary. Just what you need with Symonds at the other end.

Windies don't have the advantage. Aus have 6 wickets in hand one of them being Hussey and the other being our new found finisher in Haddin along with our current 2 batters. Windies will have to bowl well to keep Aus down to a low total.

Symonds gone. Australia are still going ok though as they have Hussey and Clarke at the crease with Haddin to come. Lee is also handy with the bat.

Australia hist more runs than expected. As we have seen, bowling second is certainly a threat to team batting second. This is why it is imperative that the West Indies openers make a good solid start to set the tone for the rest of the innings. I think they should go with Gayle and Chanderpail as the openers.

As a egar Matty Hayden fan I throughly enjoyed watching Katich struggle apart from the 6 and the coverdrive boundry he hit; I was hoping he'd go out just after 11 off 50 though. I very much hope this ininngs from Katich contributes against him in the World Cup selection.

It should be a decent total, probably better for a Lee who will throw everything at the batsman, rather than a McGrath who will keep baiting until the batsmen bite.

241 the west indies top order really needs to make runs i feel bracken will be a big factor if the west indies lose.

I just don't get it. They're willing to have Watson opening, rather than Haddin who has centuries doing it for NSW?

I hope it doesn't for New Zealand's chances sake!
