ODI Tri-Series (Malaysia)

I want to know why Hayden isn't playing. He is clearly a quality batsman and it looks like the selectors are giving him an opportunity to make the World Cup squad, so I suspect that he will be retiring soon after the World Cup. But how can he make an impression from the pavilion? If you are going to select Hayden in the squad surely you have to play him.
He is too old and we have better fresh blood. Whats the point in recalling 36-year old Hayden, when we have Cosgrove and Jaques?

Still at the age of 36 he is a magnificant batsman and at the moment he is better then both Jaques & Cosgrove even though Jaques isn't that far behind. Besides, I remember hearing last summer Hayden comment over the fact that there is no reason why a player cannot play into his 40's. I don't think he'll be slowing down or retiring anytime soon if he can help it.

There taking turns with the opening slot and I think they played it well by not playing Hayden in this particular match against the West Indies when he has a brilliant record against India in both forms of the game.

20 minutes til it starts! :D

the crowd is embarrasingly small..... whole stands left empty, and they could barely fit anyone in that tiny stadium anyway... bit of a let down really

slow start for the aussies, 24/1 (jaques out early bowled by a ripping in swinger) off 6 overs

Reason why its all empty is because most of the people are attending the India v Aus game. Expect it to be capacity then and a fair amount of Malaysians don't know what the game of cricket is except for expats from India.

Gee, Ponting out for a run a ball 50 and Katich 30 runs from 62 balls. It's a good bowling pitch and you'd think with the lack of experience in the middle order of Australia that if Clarke goes out now then Australia could be in a little bit of trouble.

Katich gone. THis is exactly why I don't think Katich should be i nthe side. He is consistant. That is true, but he is consistantly slow and loses his wicket around the 50 mark. He does half his job brilliantly but just can't go on with it.

Now Australia are in a little trouble. They were chuggling along beautifully before.

Katich had to stick in there.

australia still in a good posititon with a lot of wickets in hand

wicket has falling Cosgrave Out

Watson gone now i still think they will get 250 plus well they will be hoping for that but you never know

This is why Watson should be higher in the order. Hes just no slogger. At least Haddin has come in, hes one guy that can get us a good total. Good knock by Pup so far, expect him to pick up the rate.

na us are fine, we always were... why would the india vs aus game have any effect on the crowds for this game? i think it has a lot more to do with the fact that almost no malaysians would know what cricket is. The crowd has about 20 - 50 people in it right now (no joke) and they are clearly all aussie ex pats

Most of the Malaysians are in school at this time or working plus cricket isn't huge over there. In the weekend you should see a better crowd.

good partnership so far

Current partnership 41 runs, 5.0 overs, rr: 8.20 (Haddin 21, Clarke 20)

Great going by Clarke, probably fall short of a deserved 100 but he should get us to a decent total along with a great cameo knock from Haddin.

What a collapse. Clarke goes, Haddin and now Bracken. We still have 2 overs left, could well have been 300 had Clarke or Haddin stayed in.

2 in 1 over good come back from west indies near the end they needed that
