Pace or Swing?

That's a load.

Why so? Wasim, Waqar, McGrath swung the old ball and the new ball. When the wicket wasn't suited for swing they moved the ball of the seam and stuck to line and length but they could almost always swing the new ball regardless of the wicket.

I recall McGrath seaming the ball, he very rarely swung it.

If had to pick between a bowler who could bowl in the high 150s all day, or one who will bowl in the 130s but swing the ball all day (on this hypothetical ground and in these hypothetical conditions in which the hypothetical match is being played), I would go for the swinger over the speedster. Swing's more difficult to handle that pure pace in my opinion. In terms of protecting your wicket anyways.

^ Yea from what I have gathered/seen McGrath was not really known for his swing. In fact I cant really remember seeing him get any kind of swing worth mentioning.

Cricket's #1 tool :)

Maybe for someone who's only been watching cricket for what did you say, 2 months?

Eyesight is cricket's number one tool, by some distance.

I'd take the swinger. Many a paceman has been murdered on flat decks. A straight ball at 150k is nothing to a test level batsman.

Zaheer Khan is probably the best pure swing bowler today. He's one of the best in the business. Tait, probably the fastest, is finding it tough to hold it together for four overs.

Yes I have only been watching cricket 2 months, in-fact I didn't even know what cricket was when I joined this forum.

Both are equally important....but pace is little more important than swing...

if the pitch doesnt swing then definetely the swing bowlers will struggle..:yes
I can't comprehend what you're saying, how can the pitch swing? Swing is generated in the air not after the ball pitches. If the ball pitches and turns it is called a 'cutter'.

I think he forgot to add offer between doesn't and swing.

Anyways I agree with bhar, there are too many examples these days where swing bowlers suffer when the ball doesn't swing.
