Pakistan on a roll after their brilliant victory over the Aussies. Never underistimate the Kiwis though. Vettori will be key to the outcome of the game.

Great stuff Arslaan, keep it going!

Sharjah Cup
New Zealand vs Pakistan
Live from Sharjah

S.Manjrekar: Hello and welcome to the third ODI of this Sharjah Cup. Today we will be seeing New Zealand taking on Pakistan in what promises to be an evenly poised match. New Zealand need a win to have any chance of making it further in this tournament as Pakistan thrashed the Australians by 174 runs in their previous match. A clear indication of Pakistan's form. Joining me in this studio is Ian Chappell and Dean Jones. Good Afternoon Gentleman. Firstly, lets have a look at the New Zealand and Pakistan's form.
I.Chappell: Well starting off with New Zealand, they have not done too bad in their bowling and fielding department as we saw they bowled the Australians out for 241 which is a good effort by the Kiwis. However, they really have to focus on their batting. We saw in the previous match, many players got off to starts but did not convert one score into a Half-Century.
S.Manjrekar: What about Pakistan Deano?
D.Jones: Well from what I saw in their first match against the Australians, it is a well balanced team with batting down to Number 8 and plenty of bowling options available for Captain Misbah-ul-Haq. My only concern is the top-order. They have to fire as we saw Pakistan were 67/3 in 17 overs and it was down to Afridi, Misbah and Razzaq to get them to 300.
S.Manjrekar: Who will be the key men in this match for both teams?
I.Chappell: Well Sanjay for me it has to be Daniel Vettori. He has come on leaps and bounds as a bowler and has had a good start to his time as Captain for New Zealand. Today, he is definatly the best left-arm spinner in the World.
S.Manjrekar: And for Pakistan Deano?
D.Jones: Its a tough decision weather to pick from Younus, Afridi or Shoaib but if I had to choose one key man it would be Shahid Afridi. We saw what he did against the Australians in the previous match and once he got going it took just one mistimed shot to get him and by that time he had raced onto 50.
S.Manjrekar: Right well Barry Richards is down there with the Pitch Report.

Pitch Report

B.Richards:Thanks Sanjay. Well I must say the first thing that strikes my mind is a huge thick black cloud making its way towards the Cricket stadium. It seems approximately 50 miles away so we are fine for the time being. As for the weather it is Humid with the temperature being at 22 Degrees Centigrade. Looking at the pitch well its the same one where Australia and New Zealand played. It is a hard surface with the ball carrying at a good height. The bowlers will have to give it all they have got as this is definatly a batsman's wicket. Overall if I won the toss I would definatly bat first and post a big total before the rain comes.

S.Manjrekar: Thanks for the Pitch Report Barry, well the news from the center is that New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has won the toss and strangely elected to field first. Here are the line-ups for todays match.

S.Manjrekar: One final question to both you guys. Why do you think Vettori has elected to field first?
D.Jones: I think he is probably waiting for the rain to come down. :laugh
I.Chappell: Well I think if the rain is going to come, they would want to bowl atleast 20 overs to get Pakistan's Innings out of the way. Thats the only reason I can think of.
S.Manjrekar: Gentleman thank you for your time. Well this concludes The Twelth Man. Join us after the break where we will have the first ball ready to air live.
