Draft: Pakistan All-Time Test XI Draft

Alright, will put the draft order together. Signups still open till tomorrow.
Actually, changed my mind, since putting together the draft order on mobile was a massive pain in the backside, so don’t wanna do it again if someone else joins :p
Signups are closed. @Yash. can go ahead with the first pick.

Is there any question on who's gonna be my first pick?

Imran Khan obviously....

I mean this one :p[DOUBLEPOST=1605765114][/DOUBLEPOST]@Aislabie

Usually I'd fill my posts with VARP stats and other such demonstrations of why players were great. But this is a Pakistan draft, and Pakistani selections don't work that way. My first pick is...

13231.jpg

:pak: :ar: Mushtaq Mohammad

Test stats - 3,643 runs @ 39.17 (10 centuries, best 201) and 79 wickets @ 29.22 (3 5WI, best 5/28) in 57 matches
First-class stats - 31,091 runs @ 42.07 (72 centuries, best 303*) and 936 wickets @ 24.34 (39 5WI, best 7/18) in 502 matches

Third amongst all Pakistanis for first-class hundreds, and eighth amongst all Pakistanis for first-class wickets. First-class debut at 13, Test debut at 15, Test century at 17, Northants player at 22. Those are some pretty inspiring stats, and would be a fantastic second-round pick. But this is a Pakistan draft, so I'm picking him in the first round when I should obviously be picking any one of about six other players first. He's captain for now, but will probably be stripped of that title by the end of the draft.

At a glance, seems an odd pick this early, but dig deeper, and it’s a very clever one.

My pick will be the "Asian Bradman" - Zaheer Abbas. I would be stupid not to have him at the top of the order - he dominated in a generation of unbelievable bowling. Arguably - could have fit in to the 2020 Pakistan side - with an ODI average of 47.62 @ 84.8 SR (first batsman to knock three consecutive ODI centuries (to go alongside Test average of 44.79 with 12 centuries (including 6 centuries in 19 Tests vs India @ 87)

First Asian Batsman to hit 100 First-Class Centuries - the accolades literally continue. Let's not forget he scored 5 consecutive centuries in international innings. His elegance and flair were unbelievable - even dominated in county cricket scoring 1000+ runs almost every season.

Test Stats - 5062 Runs @ 44.79 ( 12 Centuries and 20 Half-Centuries)
First Class - 38,843 Runs @ 51.54 (108 Centuries)

Please tag the next person on the list after making your pick. You can find it in the first post.

My first pick is Wasim Akram. Who else could it be, really? The greatest left-arm bowler ever, in my (extremely biased) opinion. A magical bowler, he could move the ball however he wanted, sometimes in multiple directions within one delivery. He was very much a competent batsman, famously striking 257* against a not yet terrible Zimbabwe, a performance for which he still holds the record for most sixes in a Test innings.

@Na Maloom Afraad

:pak: :bat: YOUNIS KHAN

- Pakistan's highest run-scorer in Tests
- One of four Pakistanis to score a triple-hundred in Tests
- Third-best average for a Pakistani batsman in Tests
- Most hundreds for Pakistan in Tests
- Second-most 50+ scores for Pakistan in Tests
- Only cricketer to score a Test hundred in 11 countries

Make no mistake, he is THE greatest Pakistani batsman when it comes to Test cricket.

"One of Pakistan's modern batting greats, Younis Khan is the kind of man who responds best in adversity. A Test average of over 50, a triple-hundred, a famous double-hundred against India in India, and a brilliant rearguard partnership to clinch Pakistan's 3-0 Test whitewash over England, leave no doubt about his quality and class." - ESPNCricinfo
