Billy Bowden is lacking some matter between his ears...it's called a brain. He made a ****ing bad decision today when Balaji attempted a sweep shot and MISSED, Akmal ****ing appealed as he always thus and Bowden gave it out, caught behind. How the hell can a batsmen get out caught behind, edged, when they are attempting a sweep shot? A top edge would pop the ball in the air, while a bottom edge would take the ball straight to the ground. You just gotta use a little bit of logic before you make a decision like that--it is physically impossible. It was funny to see that AGAIN, as with the Sachin decision, most of the Pakistani fielders weren't appealing.

yep that wasnt a good desicion by billy bowden but this always happens in cricket.... just hope the 9th wicket can chip in a few runs

You mean the 10th wicket. It was a horrible decision but it ticks me off that such a decision can even be made. I understand in the case of LBWs and caught behinds like Sachin's in Kolkata that a mistake can be made. The eye can fool you, especially when the ball keeps swinging like that. The LBW, sure you didn't see it perfectly. But such a dismissal can't even happen. The ball can't just continue its normal path after a deflection from a flat bat.

may be Billy was focussed too much on what Aussies are up to over there..

btw I would like to see Laxman to try and retain more strike..he took a single off Sami's 2nd ball.

Wasnt Billy Bowden the umpire when Tendulkar was actually out padding up to an inswinger by Sami yesterday? Quit bitching about the umpires so much, its part of the game even if it wasnt out. And if you watch the replay a little carefully, ALL the close in fielders appealed vociferously and immediately. The only person not appealing was the silly mid on guy who was busy taking evasive action from the sweep shot. Get your facts straight.

Laxman is lacking confidence and I think he is very confused out there, at the moment. All he knows is that he is playing cricket--it seems that what the situation of the match is completely clouded in his mind.

You are missing the point completely. I understand its part of the game but if you simply think things out logically, something like that can't be out. It's not as much a mistake as it is sheer stupidity. So I shall bitch about him. And why don't you check your replay and tell me if it was Taufel or Bowden with Sachin yesterday, since my memory probably isn't as good.

Ah so now you are trying to justify it?

First of all, its entirely possible to get out snicking a delivery when you are trying a sweep. I dont know how you are claiming it can never happen. THAT to me is stupid.

Secondly, YOU are missing the point there. Doesnt matter if it was Taufel or Bowden, Tendulkar was out yesterday and was not given. Have some respect for the umpires.

Justify what???? I am just telling you what happened, as you obviously are blind and are just listening to the TV and not watching it.

How? The bat is parallel to the ground. If it takes an edge it has to change direction--it can't just go through unmoved. Oh... Akmal just dropped a catch.

this is utter nonsense!! how long are we going to keep saying that its part of the game?? The game is not being played in a fair manner then. This is similar to the street matches where the children play two to three innings and it applies when the Indians get decisions in their favor too.

Umpiring is horrible, very horrible these days. I dont think the standard of umpiring those days were as bad as this. This game is a battle of supremacy between two teams and it needs to be as much fair as possible. And we have the right to moan over it becoz our team is getting the stick of all this. We have got decisions in our favor too and we have not been happy with that also!!!

Come on man, usually your posts do make some sense. Dont be stupid now. You are trying to tell us that with the keeper standing up to a spinner, the time it takes the ball to take an edge from the bat and going to the keeper, you should always see the ball visibly deflect before going into the keepers gloves?? A bottom edge can be quite possible in the Balaji scenario, without question.

I think currently Laxman is playing for himself and not for his team. That is why he does not mind turning the strike over as long as he has the not out at the end. He really needs a good innings to retain his spot in the Test and even ODI squad. However, as long as Kumble can hold up one end it is all fine.

I agree with you. It was a turning ball from Kaneria and Balaji was sweeping it. So, if it hit the top edge off the bat, it should pop up in the air.. If it hits the bottom edge, it should go low down the keeper. And from what I get reading the commentary, Akmal did not get low and catch it. So, it doesnt sound possible at all.

Tendulkar given not out twice, one of those times even when he himself should have had the decency to walk... both times he made 50+. So if he is given out once when he wasnt, its still unfair to Pakistan, not to you. Plus, at least on this message board I dont see any Indians complaining about the decisions that have gone in your favor, I only see bitching when a decision goes against India.
Maybe you guys will be happier if umpires will be eliminated and only computers and machines make the decision.

All I'm saying is the angle of the bat edge is such that if there is an edge there has to be some sort of deviation. And didn't the ball pass above the bat? I'm not sure but that gets rid of the bottom edge scenario. Bowden has just given two more bad decisions--Kaneria had Kumble out LBW twice. Could have been iffy but they seemed pretty plumb. Quality of umpiring?

Totally irritating. This guy plays in time before he might get chopped. And then, he gets back to his usual lacklustre stuff. He is depriving the team of some good players like Kaif, etc.

I think he will score a hundred today and will be retained for the ODI's too.
