the match will be a draw... i know this because india is trailing by 191 runs with 4 wickets in hand and plus v Laxmen is at 51...India is gonan bat right through and im telling you even if india makes a 100 runs gets out after lunch and then pakistan makes 291 or so india still can't win because pakistan is gonna bat from mid 4th day to maybe mid 5 and india is just gonan push it in to a draw easly... this is good news for us indians because we will win the test match series and get into second place... but for pakistanis not a good choice... Inzy did a BIG mistake by makin 570... yes it was a good track to bat on but see if he mad 450 runs would have put pakistan in a big scoring postion... india would have made a lead and then pakistan would have gotten there second innings in mid 3 or beggin of the 4 day... but pakistan decided to make a huge score which was good but not a great choice from inzy.... AS for ganguly... if dravid was a captain he wouldn't do as well ethier... he would slack off... if you look at the stats of dravid as a captain and non captain he does MUCH better when hes non captain... ganguly is struggling i admit that but he can always make his team work hard in the test... like in ther 3rd match 570 he put his team in a strong postion by maybe he gave some advice of confidence or whatever it was it work... im sure he did something... This is out of the Question and stuff but i just wanted to wish everyone here HAPPY HOLI TO ALL :D

i don't think Ganguly's failure warrants such harsh criticism though... had there been any other tests in this series then he must have been dropped but the fact is that this is the last test that is heading for a Draw almost certainly...and the next test series is five-six months away...if we read his past well he will make a big impact in that period and make sure that he gets the job then...

and i hope he does...not only coz i believe that he has been the best Indian captain ever but also coz we gotta spare Rahul Dravid the pain of captaincy and let him do what he does best- Bat ...everyone's aware how captaincy affects his batting... Laxman - let him score big runs consistently even when his place is not under threat and then one can think of him being captain...by then he would be too old though... Kumble - perhaps, but one never knows how captaincy would affect him... uncertain...

I think Ganguly's batting is over-criticised at times because of the batting prowess of his more illustrious teammates...his career avg of 41.14 pales against gigantic averages of 56-58 that three of his team mates have... and also because of the inability of cricket fans(me first) to look objectively and unemotionally at a player/captain... at present every Test captain's batting avg as captain has fallen than the overall figure - except a GREAT man called BC Lara... and Ganguly happens to be the second best in that list with a fall of just three runs in a long run of 46 completed tests... Graeme Smith heads the list with a fall of one run only... two better batsmen than Ganguly - Vaughan and Inzy take a sharp drop in avgs as skippers... Taibu and the constantly changing Bangladesh captain are not being considered by me... Atapattu has captained in 9 tests and his avg has shot up by 10 runs but out of the 793 runs scored by him as skipper - 419 have come against a spineless Zimbabwe... Lara is simply great in this regards as his avg shoots up by a whopping 6.5 runs in 40 tests as captain... Fleming is one more absurd creature - he has scored 7 centuries as a skipper and 8 overall...his avg increases by one run as a captain but that increase brings him almost at par with Ganguly's avg as skipper... so guyz, is he very very very bad??? i dont think so...

on current form, had there been any other tests, he would surely have been dropped but i think for the decision abt the next series, that should be left to time ... if he performs in the intervening months then there's no one like him as a captain but if he doesn't then a few more batting avgs have to begin a downward spiral...

EDIT: BTW, Ponting was missed out by mistake... his avg falls by 3.29 runs too.

It is a draw. No sweat. Even if pakistan bowl India out they still would have to score another 100 runs before declaring, then India could just settle in for a draw.

I dont think Pakistan would do that. A total of 400 batting last is achievable on this pitch. They will try to add another 250 to 300 runs before declaring.

A dull draw on the cards!!

going with draw but uptill belive on mearicles . if pakistan got india out under 50 runs and then played with a high momentum that means play strongly and score 200--230 and then declared before end of days play,it will be challenge india on 5th day as this pitch has got a turn for spinners little bit but it will effective more on day 4 and 5, so belive it that will give pakistan a winning chance.

if india did slump lets say they were all out 420 just before lunch and pakistan make 220-250 at the end of the day. then on day 5 lets say india collapsed to 20/4, tendulkar, sehwag and dravid are out and if ganaguly comes and scores big runs like between 90-150 and save india from losing. then the indian selectors would not drop him for a whole year

Now, an Indian win is almost out of the equation. India continues its bad run at Bangalore.

If Pakistan has to win, they need to bundle India out for less than 100 and within the lunch session and then score at 4 per over and score 250 by the end of the day and set India a target of 350 odd. I dont think India might take the risk to chase 350 odd on Day 5. They have the series to lose and they wont do it. So, its more of a draw or a Pakistan win

ganguly should stay in the odi team because he plays well getting singles and rotating the strike in middle of the innings
Not really. Even in ODI cricket he hogs up the overs. Well, actually he does defend 5 balls and take a single the last ball. All the talk about Ganguly and captaincy...when was the last time he scored a 100? At least three series have passed (Australia, South Africa, Pakistan). A quick check with the cricinfo statsguru tells me that Dada's last century came in Brisbane against Australia in December 2003. That means 4 FULL TEST-SERIES' have passed since he has scored a century. He is a batsman, which means he must contribute to the run-making.

His form has been dismal--perhaps he should be given a 'rest' to go into the domestic league and play a season. Get his confidence back up and take a break from the hectic international season. Basically phase him out of the team. Possibly he can make a roaring come back. However I (and the Indian selectors) are reluctant of this choice because we are unsure as to whether Team India will crumble because of this situation. We really need to identify who has been the cause of India's success in recent seasons--the coach, the captain or the players? Although the captain is a significant player, is it not foolish to think that all success can be attributed to him? Perhaps not. I never took Psychology.

I think a bigger problem the Indians need to worry about is the position of national coach. John Wright has been a significant contributor to India's success--that's for sure. The ODI series with Sri Lanka following the Pakistan tour will show us how responsible Ganguly actually is for India's success, or whether the behind-the-scenes man (Wright) has actually brought the team together. Taking all things into consideration (team unity, Ganguly's performance, etc.) I think Ganguly should be given these next few ODI series to prove to the selectors that he still possesses batting talent and if he fails--well we have no choice. He is a contracted player and can sit in the dressing room and give orders at the end of every session if need be. I don't think you can seriously include a player in the team if he is just a captain and not a player--as it is we are having batting and bowling worries.

i heard ganguly got booed by the indian ground when he was walking back to the pavlion

yes people are running out of patience on Gangs..and probably excited by chance of the local boy Dravid becoming next captain?

Guys I guss we should forget about Ganuly's story and should start thinking about what's going to happen on day 4. Hope Mr. Laxman and pathan do something for India. I wish I. Pathan scores 50 and Laxman 100,, balaji, kumble, Singh all score 20-30. Then India will score 500+.

I hope Pathan and Laxman bat out most of day 4..Laxman needs a 100 and it'll be nice if Pathan can get a big score..even a 100. on the other hand a collapse may turn the match, though India are more than capable of playing out in their 2nd inning..hope the pitch doesn't break.

well Pathan got out just 95 short of my target ;) Sami putting in a good spell here..

Bhajju gone too..test finding some life on day 4..

Dravid is good batsman, that does not mean he'll make a great captain. Being the captain of a Ranji team, and being that of an international team is totally different.

I feel Dravid is too soft to be a captain. Also by making him the captain, his batting might be affected, as it happened in the case of Sachin.

So I would say go for someone like Kumble maybe.
