Yeah but one of those wickets was nightwatchman Paul Harris, so the only big wicket was Dippenaar. Smith's looked good in this match, scoring quickly too so if they don't get him early South Africa will chase it easily. Even if they do they still have Kallis, Prince and Boucher left.
If Smith goes early this could get very tight. An hour of Smith and this game will be over before lunch. Smith is the big wicket and they don't have someone like Pollock to come in at 4 to finish it off ruthlessly like they did against India.
I think South Africa should try Morne Morkel again in the ODI's he only played one test against India and looked good with bat and ball. IMO he should be playing here instead of Hall, but Hall did bowl well today.
Lol what a quick test match both teams batted their 2 inns and it'll be over by day 3. SA would be favourties from here having chased a similar total in the first test.
What a game this is turning out to be... Asif with two quick wickets then Kallis and Prince batting for their lives out there. South Africa still favourites with 85 to win but they way they are going means it might take until the ened of day 5 .
i think SA are gonna win this now...about 50 needed and sill 6 wickets left...2 quick wickets in the morning really put my hope up...after that a lots of shouts and appeals but nothing gained...
What happened to this match? ESPN was showing the Aus-NZ match and Star Sports was covering the Australian Open final. Damn them to get television rights to Cricket matches and then not show the event.
South Africa won the match and series, but nevertheless they had to dug deep to win this match. Pakistan only had two reasonable bowlers in Asif and Kaneria.
They're now showing the Highlights. Both Pakistan and India have stretched South Africa on their home soil this season. I thought Pakistan could have won, but their batting has let them down at crucial stages. Maybe 30-40 runs more and they might have won the series.
yeah their batting was very poor at times...i mean the first test was all about pulling...more than half of the team got out pulling...but they fought back hard and without one of their main bowlers(2 actually) they did reasonably well...i though the bowlers did pretty well actually throughout the series but their batting let them down a lot....i hope they learn from their mistakes and come back hard in the onedays...
Also i would like to add that Akmal isn't having a great time behind the stumps lately...so maybe give him a REST and try somebody else in the onedayers...he just dropped the catch of Prince towards the end of the match and also missed his stumping in the previous innings...
The Pakistanis showed more girt than us,the Indians.
I do not know whether it was the pitch or it was excellent bowling by Pakistanis, but they certainly shaped up the series perfectly.
