PAKISTAN Vs SOUTH AFRICA ​

Preview​

After the exciting 20-20 win by South Africa against Pakistan, South Africa are going to face Pakistan again but this time in a careful 50 over a side game.

Both teams were found practicing hard for the 1st ODI of this MTN ODI Series... So this is expected to be a thriller.

SMITH TALKS​

We were able to get a couple of words form South African Graeme Smith about the MTN ODI Series

Smith-We are trying to improve everytime we play cricket... We have learnt a lot from the previous series of India and hope we get the same result against Pakistan .. Pakistan have just won the their previous series against the West Indies and we've just won against against India so it could be evens in what happens. The Test Series has helped us have a little boost in confidence but we must be aware of the big-hitters Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf having a great Test year last year. So we have to play carefully against them.!

PAKISTAN IN TRAINING​

Pakistan were found practicing very hard before their first ODI match... Pakistan Coach Bob Woolmer has been encouraging his boys for great ODI results... He was giving the Pakistani slips some catching practice as edges may occur early-on in the Innings.

Also Bob Woolmer was also helping Kamran Akmal's wicket-keeping skills after a blunder in the Test Series.

We were able to get a few words from Pakistani Coach Bob Woolmer.

Woolmer-Well, after seeing the failure in the Test Series and the 20-20 we will be looking to come back hard. There is no doubt that all the boys are really trying there 100% and look forward to the World Cup... .... So hoping for the best in this series.. We will try 100% to gain momentum in this series and add that momentum to the World Cup which is in in 1 and a half months time.

PAKISTAN VS SOUTH AFRICA --- SECOND MATCH,MTN ODI SERIES

Welcome to SuperSport TV for the first match out of five of this MTN ODI Series between Pakistan and South Africa from Centurion.....

PITCH REPORT AND WEATHER CONDITION​

Well the climate here is hot and dry.. As it is a day game cracks will develop near to the batsmen so it could bounce akwardly and maybe a bit of turn for the spinners..The outfield is very quick, anything off the middle of the bat will easily run away to the fence so Gibbs and Malik will have to use all their athletic fielding skills...


About the pitch, well it is dusty and dry so the new bowlers will get plenty of bounce which could trouble the openers so they must be very cautious... Pollock and Ntini could help South Africa and Young-gun Mohammad Asif could be the key for Pakistan.

Well we had a close look at the pitch and there were some large cracks near the halfway point of the pitch and uneven surface where the spinners and the part-timers can take advantage of. It might produce some unexpected bounce either low or high so whoever looses the toss and bats is in for a rough time.

Overall, batsmen have to play a watchful innings.. The run-rate maybe slow.. But the fielding side must take advantage of this

TOSS WITH POMMIE MBANGWA​

Well, here i have with me are the two captains.Inzamam is going to toss the coin... Tails called by Smith..... and.... its Heads!!!

Well Inzy you have won the toss what do you want to do?

Inzamam-We are going to bat first... as we have experienced already how tough it is bowling first...so we dont want to take any sort of risks this time. Also the weather is quite good .. So we want to set a target and then defend it

Ok, are there any newcomers in the team?

Inzamam- Well we have included Mohammad Sami to see what he can do for us and also we have included Shahid Afridi because he can cause a lot of damage in the later overs.

Ok then Good Luck Inzy... Well Graeme, you have lost the toss and are bowling first..so any worries?

Smith-No not really we have roughly quite a good idea about the wicket as we have played alot on this Centurion wicket... but looking at the cracks this morning the only thing we have to do is "play carefully".

Ok, Any newcomers?

Smith-Well we have given a chance to Charl Langeveldt as he has helped us in the last few series and we will hope that he can do us well.

KAMRAN GOES FOR A DUCK​

In the first over, Kamran Akmal was at the strikers end after. Pollock was the bowler. He had been tempting Kamran to play the cover drive so that it could go in the air for 2 consecutive deliveries. Then it paid off....

Pollock delivered a superb delivery that was swinging towards the slips away from Kamran.. Akmal who had been tempted by Pollock though went for a cover-drive, the ball, due to the unoredictable movement, manged to get enough height and hit the toe end of the bat and that caused the ball to go in the air and straight to Jaques Kallis at cover..... Pollock was excited and the South Africans were also excited about their early scalp.....

Pollock again has initiated the early damage...and it seems he is going to dig into the Pakistani batsmen in this match also...

Younis Khan is the new batsman replacing Kamran at the crease and joins Hafeez.

Amazing start for Pollock and South Africa !!!
