xTRA COVER

I.H:Hello and welcome to xTRA COVER where me and Ian Chappell will discuss the victory for the Aussies. First of all Ian, where did New Zealand all go wrong.
I.C: Yeah, they had plenty of wickets in hand but it was the Australian bowling attack that was 1 of the best i have ever seen in a ODI match.
I.H: Yeah the Australian bowling attack was truly outstanding, but who was the main bowler for you Ian?
I.C: Well that is a very very hard desicion as all the bowlers played their part but if i had to choose it would be Stuart Clark. He was economical. He bowled it 5/6 balls in the same area. And didn't even get hit for 1 boundary
aswell to top it up.[/FONT]
I.H: Yes it truly was outstanding stuff by Stuart Clark. Let's now see a sorry New Zealand scorecard.
newzealandscorecard3rz.png

I.C: Well McCullum being promoted up the order was a big mistake as he put pressure on the middle-order from the 2nd over. Nathan Astle i thought played very well as he scored far more quicker than Skipper Steven Fleming. He himself played a very slow innings. If he could have upped his rate just a bit more, they could have been in with a shout.
I.H: Let's now have a look at the Aussies Bowling Card.
australiabowlingfigures1gu.png

I.C: Well certainly it was great stuff from the experienced bowlers. Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee led the way with an upright seam and bowling a tight line to the right and left handers. Stuart Clark was impressive being the economicalist of the 7 bowlers. This guy will be a great name in the future of Australian Cricket.

T.G: Ladies and Gentleman welcome to the Presentation Ceromony as Australia have over-powered New Zealand here at the W.A.C.A.
T.G: Firstly, i would like to call the losing captain Stephen Fleming for a few
words please.
stephenfleming9il.gif

T.G: Well Stephen, the Aussies overpowered you in the end.
Yeah they pitched it in the right areas and got their line and length spot on which caused us to go well behind the required run-rate. Full credit to Australia for a great game-Stephen Fleming
T.G: What could you have done better?
Well we could have attacked a lot earlier that would have made us level with the required rate. Also chasing 296 against Austraia is always going to be a tough task.-Stephen Fleming
T.G: OK Thanks Stephen and good luck in your next game.
Thanks very much.-Stephen Fleming
T.G: And i will now call the winning captain, Ricky Ponting.
rickyponting6xf.jpg

T.G: Well Ricky, first win in this series.
Yeah, again our bowlers have done the job again for us! Erm...New Zealand were just unlucky not to play us as good as expected.-Ricky Ponting
T.G: Brett Lee was very fast today aswell reaching 90mph+
Yeah Brett has been training alot come this series. And also Stuart Clark was brilliant. Everyone was superb!-Ricky Ponting
T.G: OK Thanks Ricky and good luck in the next match.
Thanks Tony-Ricky Ponting
T.G: And now i will present the Man Of The Match award.....well it was very close but it goes to Michael Clarke for his quickfire 83!
michaelclarke9ld.jpg

T.G: Well Michael, did you find the blackcaps's bowling difficult?
Well not really as i had to hit and i just picked out the loose balls and played the good ones.-Michael Clarke
T.G:Did Vettori have any spin?
Erm not really as i had the confidence to attack him early on, that was the key.-Michael Clarke
T.G: Well Michael you are today's Man Of The Match and recieve $2000.

southafrica2ndinningssc0xi.png
Rameez Raja: So Inzamam-Ul-Haq has won the toss and elected to bat first.

DAY 1
southafrica1stinningssc3st.png

South Africa were bowled out for 240 in the 1st day with an hour left until the close of play. Skipper Graeme Smith made a valuable 78, as so did Ashwell Prince. The South African tail didn't cause any harm.

Shoaib Akhtar was splendid taking 5/93. He had swing, seam and pace.

Pakistan had an hour to bat before the close. Unfortunatly they lost Imran Farhat lashing out on a drive and was well caught by Mark Boucher.

DAY 2
pakistan1stinningsscore8yw.png

Pakistan had started well after Lunch as Hafeez and Yousuf started to pile on the runs. After a great stand, Hafeez was trapped infront of all 3 stumps. Also Yousuf edged to 2nd slip. But then 3 wickets were lost for 13 runs as Inzy,Younis and Test debutant Shahid Yousuf failed to score. Also another Test debutant Zulqarnaine Haider tried his best for 25 as Pakistan were all out for 233.
southafricabowlingfigur0es.png

Makhaya Ntini was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/81.
DAY 3
southafrica2ndinningssc0xi.png

South Africa started their run chase poorly as skipper Graeme Smith was out. De Villiers and Kallis tried to steady the ship but Kallis fell 2 short of his half century. Night watchmen Paul Harris made a very handy 28, but the lower order failed to capitalise, and were all out for a dismal 213. Which left Pakistan needing 222 runs for the win to square the series up at 1-1.

DAY 4
Needing 222 for the win Pakistan lost Mohammad Hafeez early as a direct hit from Gibbs sent him back to the pavilion. Farhat and Yousuf then settled in and played a steady innings. Yousuf passing 50 for the 2nd time in the match! But was bowled by a fiery yorker by Andre Nel. At this stage, Pakistan needed 128 to win. Inzamam-Ul-Haq and Younis Khan guided them home with 7 wickets in hand.

THE MAN OF THE MATCH AWARD WENT TO MOHAMAD YOUSUF FOR SCORING 2 HALF-CENTURIES IN THE MATCH.
