ICC Cricket World Cup In West Indies

Today the Board Of ICC Development raised up the idea of a new format for the ICC World Cup just 2 months away.

There will be 16 teams split into groups: A,B,C & D. The top 2 teams from each of the groups will qualify for the Super Eights. Once there, the qualifying team will face off with the remaining teams but not playing the tam that was in their group before. The top 4 teams will advance into the Semi-Finals where the Tournament will come to its conclusion at Barbados for the Final.

Australia, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Canada, England, India, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, The Netherlands, West Indies & Zimbabwe will compete in this tournament. It is the first time the World Cup has been held in the West Indies. Also it the first time in the World Cup for Bermuda and Ireland.

The Fixtures will be announced later. Stay Tuned :)

Good luck with the WCup. Interesting to see how Bangladesh, Ireland perform this time in this WCup. :)

Samuels plays the big shot

Well after the 20 Over mark, the West Indies have not lost a wicket in their opening game against Pakistan. Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels strode out to the middle as Mohammad Sami and Umar Gul opened the bowling. It started off well for both teams as Gayle and Samuels put away the loose balls by Umar Gul to the boundary. However, Mohammad Sami was really troubling both the batsmen. He was getting swing on and off the surface as the ball kept going past the outside edge of the bat. Gul was taken off and Rana was brought on. He was also struggling just a bit with his line and length and was being put away for fours. The run rate at the moment is just a bit low but with these two at the crease, it shouldn't be a problem. Sami has figures of 6-2-9-0.

West Indies : 73/0 (20)
M.Samuels : *35(66)
C.Gayle : *34(54)

Mohammad Sami : 6-2-9-0
Umar Gul : 4-0-24-0
Naved-Ul-Hasan : 3-0-12-0
Iftikhar Anjum : 4-0-12-0
Shoaib Malik : 3-0-13-0

A pretty solid start by Windies.
