I don't know why everybody want Misbah to retire. The longer Misbah will play the better it will be for Sarfraz to learn about captaincy. Its fault of PCB that they took this long to decide the next captain of Pakistan. Azhar was never a good choice from day one, because being nice doesn't win you matches. Now somehow we have the right captain, so let him play under Misbah.
I know Misbah is a selfless man and he did a lot for Pakistan cricket, he knows that Sarfraz needs some time to settle down as the captain of all three formats.

Although I agree that Misbah should continue to play the game, I feel that he might have a negative effect on Sarfaraz if maintained for a long time. Misbah is quite a defensive captain, which can be seen in a few previous series, he sometimes lets the game go on longer than he needs to whereas, Sarfaraz appears much more proactive and aggressive which is vital to succeed in all formats in this day and age.

I think Sarfraz would be intelligent enough to go his own way once he is captain.

Its not just about the Age, Its about the team performance as well. (In UAE its fine even though Windies tour was also not good leadership wise though we won that series) but outside Asia the leadership was very poor particularly in NZ and Australia and signs of tiredness in Misbah was clearly seen. He has earned a lot of respect and has done good for the team throughout but no one is bigger than the team itself and the Game for the matter of fact. It can't happen that you loose series consistently, delivers poor performance and then say its his decision only. Thats not gonna work for longer in my view. Take example from Cook and Dhoni.

Its not about gunning head, bashing, age etc. The reasons are cricketing of majority of cricket experts in Pakistan greats like Wasim Akram to Aaqib Javed, Holds a similar view. Aaqib and Wasim have always been most supporters of Misbah. In PSL live interview, Akram said its his call in front of Misbah and thats understandable though at that time.

I am not in favor of Sarfraz as test captain at the moment, I am more intended towards Younis Khan as a captain for two years as a replacement of Misbah. Sarfraz can be groomed under him for an year and half. Younis has got loads of energy still and he is a good leader. I am all for the view that Sarfraz can't handle this much pressure suddenly but Misbah defensiveness will kill the team I feel like... So its better to have Younis in for captain

Younis time as a captain is over now. Neither the PCB will give it him nor he will accept it. He is basically playing probably till his 10k runs and unless there will be request from board he'll retire pretty soon. People who are saying that Misbah will have a bad effect on Sarfraz as far as his aggression is concerned are wrong, because street smartness is embedded into Sarfraz and you can not remove it. But he needs guidance of exactly someone like Misbah to be consistent in his decision making which at time is haywire.
Misbah himself is not going to be captain for long, probably couple of series at max but those couple series are enough to introduce Sarfraz with the test captaincy world. I believe captaining a side at test level is entirely different from limited overs since in limited overs every player is a captain of himself, but its test cricket where captain's role really shine. His small decisions can have big impact on the outcome of a game.

I totally agree on Sarfraz, Test captaincy is quite different and he needs guidance for it. Aggression and Defensiveness are more like nature traits and you can't indulge your nature into another one. Only the defensive mindset picks the defensiveness and vice versa like Azhar picked up Misbah one and in old times, Yousuf picked up Inzy's one and proved even worse in captaincy.

Anyway, Misbah guidance can help Sarfraz I agree with you, but the problem is that one or two test series with gaps in between won't help Sarfraz much in test captaincy I think.... and If you allow more test series to Misbah, You will suffer big time team performance wise if you are not playing much in UAE. As a matter of fact, There are young middle order batsmen as well who deserve chance rather than lingering on with Misbah for one or two years.

Yeah YK wants 10K runs as quickly as possible so maybe he gets retire after that. We will have to wait and see.

Another impact Misbah's long age play is gripping up in Pakistan Cricket that every ageing player is giving examples of Misbah. Now every 35 plus to 40 age player is expecting a come back call after performing in domestic cricket. Just two days back, Kamran Akmal said it. YK is also 4 years younger than Misbah lol, He might say it as well that keep me playing. Afridi is also of the same view that I am still fit and under 40. We might well be seeing a bunch of players giving examples of Misbah for their comebacks and keep lingering on with the team for years and years. I don't know whether this trend will help the cause nor not. But Misbah should beware of touching 45 otherwise every 45 year old will demand a come back call..... I personally agree with Ramiz Raja and other cricketing experts that every captain has a time frame and he should go back when the time frame ends and you serve enough to your capacity.

Misbah's time frame isn't over yet. Sarfraz hasn't been in the best of form with the bat or the gloves in Tests. I would stick with Misbah until the England tour in 2018, and then go to Sarfraz.

You just took one sentence from a whole paragraph. Anyway, With your chairman already talking stuff like he doesn't think Misbah will carry on after one or two series and his famous U-turns, I don't think so this gonna happen. Further, I don't think so you could stick with Misbah until 2018 if the team starts loosing matches. I ain't in favor of Sarfraz as well right away for test captaincy but Is Misbah the only choice left? I don't think so when you have YK as most experienced batsman and player out there in the side. I consider him a far better and smart captain than Misbah. And anything is possible, If offered He can accept the captaincy for an year or so but knowing PCB actions, All this unlikely to happen and it might end up in confusion once again.
