Some say Sarfaraz is Pakistan's answer to MSD
LOL, I don't think that Sarfraz will not be like MSD as a captain, but he appears to be a decent captain and we'll see what he's made of. Some of his bowling changes during the Champions Trophy in my opinion didn't make sense.

New Central Contracts announced. Glad that Umar Akmal is out but unhappy that Fawad Alam is not even in D category. It shows that management and PCB officials have no intentions to bring Fawad Alam even near to the national team :( At least he deserves a chance in test cricket now, since Misbah and Younis are retired!

Sometimes you just have to move on from a player. India too have had Badrinath, Majumdar and many other. They had immense talent but failed to get in because of fab 4 in tests and when they retired it was too old for them to play

Its a different story with Fawad. Now without Misbah and Younis, there is a gaping hole in the batting line-up. It would have been ideal, and highly deserving, for Fawad to get a slot in the XI. He averages nearly 57 in First Class cricket - too good to be warming benches or constantly playing A tours.

While India had decent players that could easily out bat Badrinath - and not to forget Badrinath was pretty mediocre with all his chances in international while Fawad dominated with 168 on debut.

While Fawad Alam deserves a fair run of chances in Test Cricket to decide for him once and for all that whether he is an international material or not, Fair enough. But Fawad was never an ODI or T20 player, he had his chances there and rightly so he got dropped in my humble opinion, For Test Cricket, He can be tried out if the current middle order has problems, Let's see What have we here for next venture in Test Cricket.

1. Ahmed Shehzad/Fakhar Zaman
2. Shan Masood/Sami Aslam
3. Azhar Ali
4. Babar Azam
5. Asad Shafiq
6. Sarfraz Ahmed
7. Aamir
8. Junaid
9. Yasir Shah
10. Hasan Ali
11. Abbas

Where can Fawad Alam can fit here? And If you really want to play an extra batsmen here then what about the emerging talent Haris Sohail? If we say so in place of Ahmed Shehzad or Sami Asalm or any opening slot? Then We are kidding.... You need Azhar Ali at his original spot now for the team. He isn't an opener

4 seamers don't look good to me. I'd drop Aamir or Junaid for an extra batsman.

I have seen enough of this legend. He should never return!

Annoyingly, both Ahmed and Umar Akmal were pipped to be the spearhead of future Pakistan, and quite deservingly. Both have the capabilities to clear the boundary at will as well as play a 21st Century ODI innings however both have got hit with the ego bug.

A real loss for both players.

I agree for Umar but not for Shehzad. Akmal played with a good SR in his last series; but Shehzad didn't.

For me, Shehzad was ruined by management. When he started he was very aggressive at the top ( I remember his early 100's in NZ), but someone got to his head to play longer slower innings and that killed his game.

Btw, what are your views about Sohail Khan? Leading wicket-taker in the PSL2 and then dropped from all formats?

Fair enough that can be debatable to have 3 seamers 2 spinners, or 3 seamers, 1 spinner and 1 part-time spinner/all-rounder, If your case is later than that all rounder should be Fawad Alam? And if only extra specialist batsman, then you are going with only 4 bowlers?

Honestly, don't know a great deal about him. He came and left so fast. All his performances in the International level have been mediocre (barring his 5-for against India).

I think the main issue was his age (understandably) and his lack of fitness. He struggled to bowl a 10 over spell in the England test series. And even if he does become a regular part of the side, I would give him a max of 2 years, therefore, it would be better to allow better talent to blossom. You may have guessed, I am very much in favour of dropping as many older players and replacing with fresh blood to breath live into Pakistan - like Fakhar Zaman, Fahim Ashraf etc.

Sorry, bro.
