Pakistan tour of Australia (Dec 2016 - Jan 2017)

I wouldn't drop Sohail. His batting is very useful.

To be honest, I never doubted that we'd lose this match after Australia declared. It was always going to happen. This team bats like pussies under pressure. Edgbaston is just one example.

There is no need to induct an extra batsman in the form of Sohail Khan... You already have 7 batsmen and thats utter defensive approach to bank on a pure bowler expecting him to score runs for you. If 7 batsmen are failing, 8 wont do anything for you. Pakistan has been under this approach throughout Waqar's Captaincy and suffered a lot..... Talking more on Sohail Khan, The guy bowled some rubbish stuff. Way short and outside off-stump. His pace is like a turtle. Pakistan axed on its own foot not inducting a performer Imran Khan. He always takes wickets for you. Aamir is disappointment as well. No swing, Just straight good length. You need to take wickets...

Pakistan announced ODI Squad. Its good to see no Kamran Akmals and Butts... I think Mickey wants consistency with the stable team which seems a good sign. But on the other hand, You have a PCB Chairman who is constantly criticising Azhar Ali being a captain and there are some ex-players as well wanting to degrade Azhar. I hope Azhar replies them strong with his performance. Hasan Ali is my pick, watch out for him in ODI[DOUBLEPOST=1483090397][/DOUBLEPOST]
BTW Pakistan no longer have great fast bowlers! Except for Amir :)

Its the matter of selection of the bowlers not about no longer thing.

Sohail and Kamran not selected in the ODI squad!

Kamran had scored another century in his last List-A game, where Butt scored 80+ and Asif bowled with an economy rate of less than 3.

I'm so happy right now! Good to see those arrogant bastards overlooked :lol

Shehzad has scored another century as well. Apparently Misbah is planning to retire. I feel like if he really wants to retire he should have a go at SCG as his final test. Resigning before the 3rd test would be strange....

ODI Squad have been announced and I think its a well balanced squad.

Those who are saying why Kamran Akmal isn't selected. Its because if selectors select him. Where he will play in the line-up? The management and coach will not include him in the line-up. Most probably line-up will be.

S Khan
Azhar Ali (c)
B Azam
S Malik
S Ahmed (wk)
U Akmal
I Wasim
M Nawaz/M Irfan
M Amir
W Riaz
H Ali

With A Shafiq, on bench.
But still if you want him to sit him bench, selectors could've replace Rizwan for Kamran.

I actually thought Pakistan could draw this at the beginning of Day 5! I wonder what went wrong here. Misbah and Younis have to score at Sydney to prove they deserve a place in the XI. I think Misbah might as well retire around this time. Disappointing loss for Pakistan even though they scored 443 in the first innings. It reminded me of one of the last two test matches in the England India series where England scored 400 and still lost by an innings.

Sohail mustn't be dropped. Drop Yasir!

All out pace attack ?? Even Aus doesn't want to do that in the next match !! SCG:Good for spinners !!!

Yasir Shah became the first bowler in the history to concede 200 runs twice in a single innings of a test match in a calendar year.

213 against England at Old Trafford
207 against Australia at MCG

:)

I don't think you follow Pakistan's domestic cricket much.[DOUBLEPOST=1483123335][/DOUBLEPOST]

@Salman.

It would be a stupid decision to drop Yasir (SCG pitch will support spinners) :)!

Looking ahead to the Ashes of 2017/18 as our next series of interest I hope that Travis Head proves himself a bit more in the longer form of the game because even though he's having a good start so far he's season last year wasn't particularly impressive and has a similar record to the likes of Maddinson, Doolan, Ferguson etc who just aren't good enough. Kurtis Patterson should have been selected for the 6 spot ahead of Maddinson and he should be considered next in line unless someone like Head improves. They may as well give Maddinson the SCG test to see if he gets any runs since the series is done and dust.

Shane Warne was talking absolute shite yesterday about Steven O'Keefe being a white specialist with a first class record of 218 wickets @ 23 and a limited overs record of 29 wickets @ 56. He then proceeds to suggest Ashton Agar with 114 wickets @ 40, Adam Zampa with 62 wickets @ 50 or Jon Holland 141 wickets @ 35 as "red ball specialists" and is the same person who anointed Michael Beer as the next best thing so I hope the selectors pay no attention to this idiot. Not that I think that O'keefe will set the world on fire but he's better than the rest by a large margin.

Come the first test at the Gabba next November I'd like to see either Kurtis Patterson or Jake Lehmann in at 6 depending on which player is in the better form at the time and Peter Nevill to replace Matthew Wade as he's the superior man with the gloves and Wade's scores of 4, 7, 1* and 9 make a mockery of his so called superiority with the bat.

I agree with you... Even I think that the same thing is happening with Kane Williamson...

According to me, the possible reason is that Smith and Williamson are a great force in tests only, while Kohli and Root perform in all three formats consistently...

Meanwhile since the South Africa series of 2014 (when his career took off) Steve Smith averages 54 in ODI's but yeah he's only good in test matches.

@Bluebagger Maddinson is axed :) Fergs career is over (Patterson & Lehmann needs to wait! BANCROFT is first in line if he score runs this season) Head let him play just ODI's for now like Lynn in T20I :)
