Pakistan Tour of England and Ireland - July/September 2016

Categorically Pakistan's ODI mentality is still ten year old-fashioned. A forced captain carrying the baggage of some forced players.[DOUBLEPOST=1472126055][/DOUBLEPOST]

That's most probably because of Inzamam having good friendship with these lads. I won't be surprized to see Salman butt, Kamran Akmal and Shahid Afridi in future under Inzy's tenure... but for how long..? I feel like the era of these guys have gone. You can't milk them more...

I disagree Rehan. I think, Inzi is one of the men who realises he's on national duty and friendships come after such important responsibilities. In my opinion, Malik and Gul are brilliant cricketers. If they're fit and consistent, I see age as no barrier. Just look at Misbah-Ul-Haq. Hafeez is a proper liability if he doesn't bowl. I've always felt he's a bowling all rounder, not the other way around. As good as Azhar Ali is in the longer formats, he's a pain in the shorter format. I also don't believe for one second that there aren't good enough people to replace them. You just need to give them time and confidence that even if they fail in a series or two, they'll be backed, not sacked.

Why did we elect to bat first?[DOUBLEPOST=1472295213][/DOUBLEPOST]Sami's dismissal shouldn't have been overturned. Small spikes aren't enough evidence to overturn. Babar was unlucky too.

I think all of our four wickets so far have been the result of either good bowling or bad luck.

I like this team although most of the players didn't even score in double figures. Imad is good enough to take Shoaib Malik's position, that way we can try to add another all-rounder in the lower middle order. We need to find the same balance we used to have couple of years back with Hafeez and Afridi bowling regularly. Only issue now is of Azhar Ali's captaincy.

I have huge respect for Inzi as a player. I categorized him just behind Tendular, Lara and Ponting, But from what I have observed even when he was captain, His friendship mentality was on, I could be wrong perhaps we need to see more how things shape up. Umer Gul hasn't impressed for so long in international cricket and there are other bowlers who needed confidence before Gul. The example is Junaid Khan. He is a great prospect, It is he who needs confidence and backing up at the moment.

PS: Hasan Ali looks a promising bowler. He should be given consistent chance and backing I suppose.. On Yasir Shah, You can't drop him with one bad match. He should be backed and given a chance.

On another note.. I am afraid to say that it is due to Azhar Ali the whole combination is collapsing.....

Sarfraz Ahmed should be captain. Sarfraz has a real cricketing brain and is aggressive, which is what you need from a captain. Azhar Ali should just focus on his batting. Sarfraz captained his PSL team to victory, though we will get a insight of how good a captain he is after England T20 and when West Indies tour.

I don't buy the idea of making a player captain who scores runs but majority of our cricketing experts and nation does sell to his failed idea. It has been a trend in our cricketing history that we make captains based on their performances and end up with crises. Its not about Sarfraz or any player it is about the mentality. You may make him captain I'd support as well as fan but not with this performance based mind set. Otherwise you will be ready to replace him when he will struggle with poor form like every player does in his career or when you loose two to three tournaments. If you want to make him Captain then stick with it and give a long-run and you don't need to announce publicly right away that we are giving him a long-run. Consistency demands silence and silence is rare so we will have to see what comes next in our Cricket :)

PS: Having said that, Rising up on ranking is the only way for us and it should be done quickly... but with Azhar Ali... argh....

I think Amir and Sarfraz should be rested after we lose this game.

The only person who can stop Alex Hales from scoring 200 today is Alex Hales.
