Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

I really don't understand these T20 series'. If T20Is are going to replace ODIs (as they have done in this series), then why not make it result oriented. 2 matches is just silly.

Pakistan is just playing warm-ups so they don't lose every single match on the tour lol.
Who said we were gonna win the warm-ups?

It's because ODIs were already played, last year in Dubai.

But a T20I was played too :|

My point is that there should be 3 T20s if it's going to be a T20 series. These are just friendlies at the moment.

No need of this series. Another Series With Some Bad Results For The Pakistan Cricket Team. May Be They Need Akhtar in their side

So what is the Pakistan going to look like for this tour? We will be the first to play them with their new look side.

New look side?

I have a very good feeling that the same team that played in Australia will be playing against Australia (with 1 or 2 exceptions). I firmly believe Younus and Yousuf will play in England - this is Pakistan cricket we're talking about.

Assuming the PCB somehow don't select them, then we shouldn't even send a team.

Firstly, this is our team as I see it:

Salman Butt (captain?)
Some atrocious opener / Khurram Manzoor
Fawad Alam (?)
Umar Akmal
Some terrible batsman / Faisal Iqbal
Some terrible batsman
Kamran Akmal
Umar Gul
Mohammad Aamer
Danish Kaneria / Saeed Ajmal
Mohammad Asif

We're better off not even sending a team. Perhaps the #5 and #6 positions can be taken by Afridi and Razzaq although both haven't played test cricket since 2006. And we'll just put somebody to open with Butt, since we already know we'll be 0/2.

There's not that many batsmen in Pakistan who can fill Younus and Yousuf's role. I'd rather not have Manzoor and Iqbal play, but it seems as though they will have to.

Manzoor played with great determination in the Hobart Test - I'd be giving him another shot. Imran Farhat's looked OK too and the opening partnership was the best partnership Pakistan had during the Australia series. It averaged 43.5, the 5th wicket averaged 40 and everything else was under 30. It depends what happens to Misbah. He could be captain you never know. Maybe he'll make the side anyway, I'd have him over Faisal Iqbal.

At least the bowling attack should still be good :) Yasir Arafat might be a consideration - he knows how to bowl in England. And while the Pakis don't really need another spinner whatever happened to Abdur Rehman's career? I see he's taken a stack of wickets this last Pakistani domestic season - he only ever played 2 Tests.

I hope your picking Akmal as a specialist batsman.

Manzoor and Alam were the stad out batsmen on tour, no offence to the rest. Manzoor played just one game, but he looked like the only batsman that wanted to stick around in that test.

I guess the T20 series are warm ups for T20 World Cups/tournaments and also don't forget they bring in $$$$$$ Watched the IPL game yesterday, a tad more interesting than the previous day's but watched it mainly because I was also doing something else and the rugby was boring and there was nothing better on - although if I'd realised Sharpe was on I might have watched that!

I don't think Manzoor has the technique to survive in English conditions where the ball will swing more than it did in Australia (and does in Pakistan).

The application, determination, and mental capability is there - but the technique isn't.

Khurram Manzoor is one of my favorite Pakistani youngsters, in my books he is built to be a good Test batsman, that being said he failed in Dunedin and those are probably as close to English conditions you will get.
