Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

They just have good bowlers but batting is still in doubt

I would make another clown video but I think its general consensus now that Afridi is the biggest joke going around in cricket today, at least at the highest level.

Worst thing that can happen for Pakistan cricket now, is to put the extra pressure on Butt with captaincy and have his batting affected.

:facepalm Pakistan's bowlers had set them up a win this match in both innings, too bad their batting is Grade cricket level.

I would have Hilfenhaus' babies :/

"I don't think Hilf is smart enough to recognise that sort of signal. I might let him know later on, so he can get into Gazza if he wants. Hilf is certainly not one for love signals."

Tim Paine reckons his best mate in the team, Ben Hilfenhaus, might not realise he has a gay slash he-she love but Clarke doesn't.

I didn't like the fact when you created that video on him, but now I'm with you. What a joke of a player, quitting after one match and leaving the team in problems. Now Salman Butt, who has been our best batsman will have to take over and have tons of pressure.

Thank you!

His bowling is not needed, his batting is awful. You can't just have someone in the team because they are a good "captain", otherwise Ganga would be captaining the Windies.

I really do not like the sound of Butt being Captain, his batting is blossoming, why give him extra pressure just when he is coming good!

Honestly, no choice right now other than to bring back the two Y's until the youth have more expreience.

Well I dont really know what Afridi is/was thinking. If he wanted to take the captaincy for the team, then now was not the time to quit. Pakistan genuinely needed an experienced campaigner and Afridi could have filled the void. But I have to credit him because he did this for Pakistan and had the guts to admit he didnt belong in this format.
I am not sure where we go from here. Younis is the ideal man for the job but PCB is run from extremely incompetent men that I wouldnt be surprised someone else gets it. Naturally Butt is the next in line, but with people like the Akmals, and Malik in the team, I dont think he will do to well. I hope thats not the case as he is a good leader as he has captained Pakistan at junior levels

Rumours are Yousef is coming out of his "retirement"

Well North just saved his ass with that spell of bowling, kinda of reminds me of Haurtiz in India when he got upstaged by Clarke. But good returns for Smith on debut.

North seems to come through in the clutch just when he is about to be dropped. Not sure if he can "bowl" his way into the team though.

Just makes it harder for Smith to take his spot, he might have been able to nick it with a strong batting performance and count on potential leggies giving him the edge but now he'll need North to continue failing with the bat. In saying that, if Smith continues taking wickets and being economical he might nick Hauritz spot fulltime.

^He's got the advantage of being a leggie and would fit better with North's offies. Australia never liked playing 2 spinners of the same type. But that would be incredibly harsh on Hauritz.

Sure it's bad for Butt, but surely it's better for Pakistan to lower Butt's performance by a little in order to get rid of a guy from the XI who was basically useless. I'm not sure bringing back Younis/Yousuf is the answer either. That's just an easy way to bring back all the internal bickering they had before. Move on with a new captain and new players I say. It's gonna be hard to begin with, but someone will rise up. They've already got good bowlers and a couple of good batsmen, so they aren't too far away.

Younis/ Yousef should definetly be back. Azhar Ali and Umar Amin may be good future prospects but this is TEST cricket, and you cant really gamble that much in this version. Bring them back for the TESTs and maybe Yousef for the ODIs and experiment more in shorter formats.

Another puzzling exclusion is of Fawad Alam. He has been knocking the door for quite some time and he scored a century on debut on conditions where the more senior batsmen, like Yousef and others failed. I personally feel Alam could be a future TEST player for Pakistan, he has definetly got the temperament atleast better than some of other players.

Younis should walk back into the team considering he is already in England but the PCB members will act like a bitch and avoid him.

North to take over the spin dep. over Ritz and Smith. Smith to take over North's batting spot. And Ritz is history.

Excellent win by us. Liked the look of Smith, bowled a lot better than Warne did in his first mstch, by a mile. I hope they stick with him, he does have a great air of confidence about him, he looks like he loves playing cricket.

Johnson bowled pies, man he is up and down. North bowled well but obviously had some brainless shots played against him, but he can bowl long spells and does hsave decent temperament.

Afridi- funny stuff. :laugh

Well I'd rather play Alam than bring back the Ys. Yes Yousuf and Younis are good players but they aren't the future of Pakistan cricket and when they are around lately the team has been fragmented, not working together and have lost. The last series Pakistan won was nearly 4 years ago for crying out loud, it's not as though by sacrificing veterans for some future players they are going to lose their advantage. They don't have an advantage to lose.

And what happened to the kid that played well in Aus, Manzoor? He stonewalled us for a long time in Hobart. That's the kind of play Pakistan needs right now.

I was looking at the scorecard for Warne's debut, doesn't look as bad when you factor in the 40+ overs he had to bowl, so economy wise he wasn't too bad. And yea Johnson is one frustrating bowler, blind Freddy could see where not to bowl to Butt however he kept putting it in the same spot and it kept going to the fence.
