Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

I reckon Australia will bat better second time round I would say about 330-1 :D
Ponting and Watson both Not Out on 100+ and Katich will get 100 and get out :)

Another spineless effort by world's most pathetic batting line up. No one could score fifty. Every one got start and fell to watson as if he was malcom marshall born all over again. Shoaib Malik show again he is a misfit in test matches. Kamran Akmal keep proving that he is just an average wicket keeper batsman.

Did you even see the match?

To say you are completely wrong is an understatement. Pakistan batted very well albeit aided by poor bowling from Australia at times.

Congrats Pakistan you did what you are best known for a collapse

They did not bat well IMHO. Every one got a start. Atleast one of them should have gone to make a seventy or eighty. Australian bowling was not up to their usual standards. Our batsman showed lack of application and guts TBH.

Say whaaat ? That wasn't a great batting display. They needed at least 2 batsmen to make 80 odd. Somehow they've scraped a good lead, but you're leaving the Aussies with a sniff. That is always dangerous. They had a chance to completely knock the Aussies out of this game. The Aussies bowled pretty badly. To give so many wickets to Watson, isn't great. Whilst he was swinging the ball, at his pace, he shouldn't be getting 6fers in Test cricket.

I don't see how you can be disappointed by that batting performance to be honest. None of the Pakistan players gave their wickets away and all got good balls.

220-250 is par on this pitch.

Watson bowled very well to take 6 wickets and that last run out was funny :D

I think you are highly underrating Watson's bowling display in this innings. He kept it tight and swung it quite alot. All of his wickets were because of good bowling not Pakistan batsmen throwing their wickets away.

To be fair, English cricket has a rich history of 130 kph bowlers getting heaps of wickets. Check it; some illustrious names there, but the guy at the top was a medium pacer. Conditions like these require more of a deft touch.

That edged delivery from Katich proved my point made at Lords. He moves across his stumps so far, that after the initial movement he finds it very difficult to move his feet, and therefore his head is in the wrong position and at times he ends up throwing only his hands at the ball and edging behind. It's not going to happen every time, but I think it's worth a bowler of good pace bowling a delivery at good pace that swings away from him late. I think you stand more chance of getting him out doing that, than bowling on middle stump and getting clipped through mid-wicket all day.

No, I agree, pace isn't everything. However, Watson bowls at around 125 kph. That is very gentle.

Besides, the shot selection in the middle wasn't great. Umar Akmal played a terrible innings, he needs to be careful not to go down the Afridi way. The rest of the batsmen got starts but they really needed to carry on and make it count.

Look, in similar conditions, Dravid , Sachin and Ganguly made big big hundreds against bowlers of a similar quality. If you have class and apply yourself you can still make big scores.

The problem with that is, if he's clever, he can leave those deliveries all day. Anyway he's out ! Take that, deserves it for a crappy technique.

Walk across the stumps mr katich and keep walking back to pavillion. Great thinking by aamer.

Heh, so much for bowling for leg-stump not working, superb bowling from Aamer. Love watching this young lad bowl. Anyone that continues to pick Katich up fairly cheaply is good in my eyes. Not looking forward to seeing our boys facing him.
