Bollocks they have come off!
This test is one of the reasons why I don't like to comment on test matches while they are in progress - because the last day play kind of made suggestion that this pitch was a total road look a bit pre-mature.
It really was no different to any Asian flat pitch that deteriorated late. Overall it probably was just slightly flatter for slightly longer and started to give spinners assistance much later than expected.
I don't think some dreadful batting from Pakistan should cover up how poor this is and it should be fined and warned just as Trent Bridge was.
Why was Trent Bridge fined? I can't remember.
In all honesty, this wasn't the horrendous pitch everyone made it out to be. Some times, pitches are gonna favour batsmen, other times bowlers. Just look at the ridiculous length of those tests in the ashes, all over in 3 days. Pitch and conditions change from place to place. I don't think we should get on our high horse and be like " oh no, tests in Aisa will kill test cricket". This is just a part of the game. Plus, it produced an excellent 5th day and in all honesty, I think England were denied a historic win. That should be the controversy, that Umpires need to be more practical and if a result is less than 10 overs away, let the game carry on. Imagine the tv moment for everyone watching if england had one in a last gasp effort, instead of a light meter and some handshakes. Ridiculous.
For the England v India test where there was so little for the bowlers :1st Investec Test: England v India at Nottingham, Jul 9-13, 2014 | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Nah this pitch was very similar to famous Adelaide 2006 Ashes series pitch.
And absolutely road would be some on the Antigua Recreation ground pitches in the 90s/early 2000s
Ahh ok, so who administered the fine? The ECB or the ICC? If it was the ECB then it obviously doesn't apply in the UAE but if it was the ICC, then it should be administered every where equally.
Also, I just googled it and I can't see where Trent Bridge was fined, I found a cricinfo article stating they may be fined. The same from the Independent.
I think it was Nasser who referenced it a couple of times through this test but admittedly I can't find any official record of it. Seem to remember him saying the pitch was given a poor rating by the match referee which results in a fine and a kind of 'yellow card' in case of a repeat offence anytime soon.
