Patch#2 Notes - Patch is Live

Amazing logical reasoning guys.:clap Let the game gets more glitches. Look like BA will keep adding anti-piracy codes and mess up this game.
If this is the direction they are going then their next version gonna be similar to SimCity always online fiasco. Long live DRM. Looks like best bet for new buyers is to wait for this to show up on GOG.

I'm sorry, but you're talking a load of bollocks. As someone who got screwed by the SimCity thing (although I did get a refund, unlike others!!) the DBC DRM is IMO the best type that you can have. Piss off people who don't buy the game without troubling your legit consumers. If you are having these issues with the game after buying the game on Steam then I'm 100% sure that Big Ant would rush something out to fix it; especially since no one else has reported it. I'd hope if someone did, then they'd check whatever parameters they are using and adjust them to make sure that legit consumers aren't getting hassled.

I do agree that GOG is a fantastic website that I would encourage developers to release games on... but if I was a developer, I wouldn't release there initially. Especially if my core market is in a market with such a high piracy rate as India...

Less than 500 legitimate Steam sales for all of India, who in their right mind would support products there? I am continuing to do it because I promised I would.

Guys like @jeetu will make sure that no one does again. Ever.

What have sales been like worldwide big fella?,good or bad?

Ross posted figures earlier that had legit sales in India at about 10% of the total - so around 5000 copies sold on PC perhaps.

Can't imagine those are numbers that make releasing on PC sustainable into the future.

So about 150.000 quids worth.?Will they make any money out of that?

A free week end on steam as posted earlier may help a bit with sales if its possible.[DOUBLEPOST=1407575538][/DOUBLEPOST]The games literally appear on your steam client as available to play, thats direct door to door sales.

Note that I have to make a lot of potentially wrong assumptions, but speculation is fun, so...

Factors:
- Steam take a ~30% cut (NDAs cover the exact amount, so can only speculate)
- A portion for royalties to the Bradman Foundation
- I assume something to Tru Blu given they publish the physical version of the PC version
- Not all copies sell for the same price, including preorders sold with a 10% discount
- 30% corporate tax in Australia

Assumptions:
- 60% of sales being at the pre-order discount pricing levels
- The royalties to places other than Steam being equal to 10%
- 5000 total copies sold and Ross' previous post of the country breakdown still being accurate

Result -
While they would have 'made' about $230k on the sales, this falls below $100k by the time all of the above is factored out. Ross has said he has spent 'millions' making the game - so their profits on the PC version would be at most 5% of the way to funding development.

I'd guess the answer to 'will they make any money' is 'No.' - which is usually what I can shorten most of my posts to.

Which, when you consider that there is PC specific work to be done (Steam integration, compatibility for different tech specs/OS etc), it probably just about breaks even and doesn't contribute anything back to the dev cost...

Console is everything.

New sports games often don't make a profit immediately, with the first iterations often serving to build a reputation of sorts. As for whether Ross feels as though there is enough groundwork laid down to make PC versions potentially viable, then that's his decision to make really. I continue to be amazed how many gamers don't see the virtue of owning a legit copy. They just don't seem to see the connection between sales and viability. After all, if everyone torrented all the games they play, then there would not be any games in the first place!

@Madman , are you reading this ? :p
Yeah, it makes sense for the devs of many games to focus most of their attention to consoles if that's where the money is... Doesn't mean it isn't a shitty platform.

Would be a shame if we didn't get to have future versions of DBC on PC, but there's no way I'm getting a console to play them.

I doubt, honestly, if we will see a PC cricket title from BA again. I would push that nearer the "certainly won't" box if I was based in India.

Got an 87.4MB patch on Steam today. Does anyone know what it's about?

Thanks. :)[DOUBLEPOST=1407585505][/DOUBLEPOST]

India - ruining both cricket games and real cricket since 2014. :clap

Would be annoyed if there isnt a DBC15/16 on PC not because I would buy it but because the stupid almighty tweaks in India and Pakistan decide to ruin everything just because they cant cough out a couple dollars...

I could well be reading waaaaay too much into some of the stuff Ross has been saying, or not saying. It's a gut feeling I have. The more I read the misplaced negativity brewing here the more unlikely the future is, unfortunately.
