PC Games

My only purchase so far has been Hotline Miami.... although have been waiting for Torchlight 2 to drop.

----------

Torchlight 2 50% off.... purchased :p

@Ste - Civ 5 is currently 75% ;)

You'd probably be advised to grab the GOTY edition that comes with all the expansions for a couple extra quid.

yep. just spent a little looking around, goty doesn't have all of the expansion stuff, but it has a lot so is definitely worth getting and then fitting the other stuff in.

Gods and Kings is the main one I think. Adds religion and a couple of other features from IV back in.

You guys should try out Planetside 2, free on steam and an incredibly huge MMO. You just fight for territory over 3 continents and have some crazy battles. I would suggest playing on a server as local to you as possible but even on a US server the lag was minimal for me. Now on an aussie server things are running perfectly.

Can anyone recommend any action/adventure games in the steam sale? Seriously considering Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for ?2.50 and ?5 respectively. I'd like something with a good storyline to it.

this might not be considered a great answer to your question, but i think you'd be hard pressed to find an action/adventure game with a good story behind it.

it's called action / adventure for a reason, in that the gameplay is exciting, story-lines can be ignored somewhat if the game play is engrossing and intense. the best stories in games tend to be in rpgs which have generally slower gameplay.

i'm not saying they don't exist, just that good rpgs are considered good due to their storyline. if action games get good reviews it's gameplay. story is ignored.

You can't really go wrong with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City at those prices tbh

If you like the Batman universe then you really can't go wrong with both of them if your PC can handle them. Arkham Asylum is a bit of a tighter game, well knitted together and with a decent story arc to it. City is a bit more open and perhaps loses some of what makes Asylum so good, but is still a very well made game.

If you want something batshit mental and full of fun (but lacking somewhat in story) then grab Just Cause 2. Often finds itself in people's top games of this generation list, just because it's such an entertaining sandbox to play about in.

Something else pretty cheap at the moment, and more of an indie game is Bastion. Good fun action game, but also a pretty unique and interesting story that floats along with it. Personally loved the narrator that hangs about with you throughout the game, and an excellent soundtrack to go with it. Both are under ?5 at the moment, and well worth any gamer's time.

Asylum > City for me as it has a sequential storyline. I enjoyed the City experience but was pretty pissed off at the end as there wasn't a beginning or an end to the story. I didn't really know what to make of it. I killed/defeated all of the villains but I knew I was going to do that anyway so it felt sort of pointless. As far as gameplay goes, City has more features. Also, if I'm not mistaken (been a long time since I played Asylum so I don't remember), City's gametime is longer.

Wow - grab them now!! I bought those two for ?20 a while back and I thought that was amazing value for money. To get them both and have change from a tenner, go for it!
