PlanetCricket Ashes Cricket 2009 Q&A

I am going to the best in the world at this game.

Nuff said.

Cant wait, no matter how ████ it is.

Hi, thanks for picking that up, please ignore the last two sentences for now. I didn't describe those cards as 'enough' though (the word enough is not used), but I had wedged the example of the cards I use between those sentences, so the numbers given in the last sentence don't apply to those cards, I'm simply using them as examples of what I use for outstanding performance, and at much higher resolutions. It kind of should read:

"Sure, ultimately for best results you'll need a machine that can keep up with the equivalent graphics power of the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360, so you'll be looking at a 2Ghz+ CPU with 1GB of RAM, with a good Shader Model 3.0 card with at least 256MB of VRAM. This will give you a solid 60hz experience at 1280 x 720, but of course it never hurts to throw more power at it if 1920 x 1200 is your preference!

My work PC has an 8800GTX in it, and I play with a Radeon 4850 at home and both deliver excellent performance."

The reason I originally had written 1280 x 720 is that it's the native resolution of the console versions. I'll follow up with a better indication of what to expect with different cards, and just how hard I can push these cards, but it runs very well on pretty poor cards. We supported Shader Model 2.0 cards with 128MB of VRAM for a while, but we've ultimately decided to make Shader Model 3.0 cards the base now, not because it stopped running well, but primarily because we don't want to hold things back by always supporting SM2 and SM3 implementations of all of our graphical effects.

Hi Rob, thanks a lot for replying! :)

Your post pretty much cleared all my doubts, again thanks for replying and doing so, so well. :)

I agree with your point on SM3 / SM2. I understand that a lot of people still have SM2 but supporting both on a game engine can be very redundant and take away precious development time for other core elements of the game. Again, even SM4 cards are Dirt cheap nowadays[By the likes of AMD's 4770], which are ridiculously powerful for the small price one pays.

I guess using SM3 as the standard can be a bit helpful to program / port for / from the PS3's engine, seeing it has an nVidia 7800GTX class hardware, or is it completely different?

do you guys believe that Dirk Nannes will be in the game for Netherlands? under his fake name or whatever,
also can anyone CONFIRM that the ps3 version of the game will work in the United States.

According to my knowledge PS3 games are region free then where does the compatibility issue arise ?

As far as I know Holland aren't even in the game.

and yes i can believe that dirk nannes will be in the game for netherlands(depending wether in the game or not), considering he is playing for them in the T20 world cup. and you ps3 is region free so it will work

I still don't think Holland is in the game. Last I heard only the test nations were in.

apparently we can edit players and teams...so hopefully it will be indepth enough for us to include him.....and where did it say the netherlands arent in the game? didn't they we could have custom world cups? i hope they included the associate nations as well....adds more variety and its often fun to play tournaments with them....neways heres to hoping

Where in India you are getting PS3 80gb for 6K????:eek::eek: Thats like 130$ dude... Lemme know, i'll buy 5 of them unless they are chinese;);)

lol..you are correct .Quality of chinese products are very bad. I am personally experienced with it. My new laptop & mobile always give some problem. Another thing those will stop working after guarantee period is over . This fact is agreed by chinese also.

Dunno, if this site can be trusted because it's obvious some of the interviews are bull, but I like the sound of this.

CricketGaming.net: Can we expect any special modes like Season or Career modes in the game?

Rob: There are certainly both official, unofficial and custom tournaments in our game. You can place your custom player into a team and over time you'll earn skill points, which you can use to increase your players strengths in key areas. As for a fully fledged career mode, it's a natural progression that we'll heads towards.

Hopefully in further games we'll have it.

Considering how Rob answered my doubt in regards to that question in the interview, I'd assume that the interview is authentic. I know, its hard to believe these days. :p
