Well TAOC is over hyped, it can be the best game ever and still be disappointing. I also get the feeling the alpha will greatly misrepresent the game's potential.

Don't get me wrong, I hope TAOC succeeds, but I'm of the view that our real chance for a great cricket game lies with Codemasters, even if you don't like how they have gone about things, their vision is there. They have just as much passion for creating the game as Paul does with TAOC. They both however have different realities to face up with, time and money constraints directly for Trickstar, and a work-life balance for TAOC.

I wish that Paul and JK could completely freely work on TAOC for a year with a team of developers, the game they would make would surpass anything on the market, but come IC2012 I think the cumulative work will start to really show. If Codemasters stay in for the long haul, they will get there. TAOC probably would too, but I fear they will always be too far away from where the game needs to be.

and you are the the website’s technician of taoc
Haven't done work on it in years now, being Admin here takes up more than enough web 'technician' time.

There's no questioning that. Trickstar know their cricket and we saw that with A09 and they are the only developers on consoles - which IS the mainstream market globally for games.

That's not what you said a couple of years back(yes I have a good memory). You said that TAOC will be the best thing out while people will still buy crappy Codemasters and EA cricket games. Times change...

If I'm thinking of the right post, I was saying that TAOC won't dent the sales of Codemasters and EA games, even if it was the best. People naturally buy the big brand name games that are in stores and on consoles, TAOC could be absolutely fantastic, but a rubbish EA or Codemasters game would still sell well despite that. This is because TAOC is stuck on PC and beyond the few thousand or so people who would have seen it on this site and occasional mentions elsewhere, it isn't going to be widely known. That would likely change for the better once it was released, but it isn't going to have the things like TV ads and posters in game stores that Ashes Cricket got.

More generally, times have changed, 'a couple of years back', Codemasters just released the awful BLIC 2007 and TAOC looked on track for a release in the summer of 2008. Codemasters have picked their game up and chosen a very good developer and stuck with them for more than one edition of a Cricket game, something they've never done before. Then you have EA who have taken their ball and gone home.

Probably the most disappointing Q & A I have read in quite some time.

All it proved was that yes, these are updated rosters and kits with a few useless gimmicks :facepalm .

Looks to me like these guys are just trying to take advantage of being the only serious cricket game developers there are, but until they make some serious changes, I sure ain't buying their shoddy games. This is why I really want to see EA come back as well.

They should atleast release that at a lower price or something, as this is so similar to Ashes.

It was on msn. Long time ago. But thats basically what you were saying.

I think it was disappointing as it didn't say much. Despite that I'm still hearing very positive things from the people who've played the game.

Even I feel that these Q/A are not of much use but I think PC shouldn't be blamed for this. There are some restrictions before the release of the game which avoid producers/devs to answer in detail. Do you guys expect Codies to answer questions like "will there be ipl next year" "will there be more licenses" etc? I don't think so any company will answer these type of questions which is directly related to their strategies and plans.

I was talking with Rob and Jamie yesterday and according to both of them, the game is a lot better than AC09. I don't know why people didn't like Trans. G's work. They really made great efforts unlike EA.

It really would be great if you guys could just tell us why the game is better than AC09. Something a little bit more specific.

You'll come to know soon when there will be another trailer. Probably in the first week of may I hope.

I actually don't know. I haven't played it so I'm just going off what people who have are saying.
The point is they started with the patched AC09 and then spent however many months developing it. It stands to reason it will be an improvement on an already very good patched version.
Of course if it is amazing and they don't port it to PC I might have to splash out on a console ;)

Just wait for one more year and you will see iPhone and Mobile versions of Codies cricket.

And will we see a PC Version?
May be yes and may be no. I feel there is a big probability for a PC version next time because Zapak has joined.
