Players who didn't reach their full potential

Sanath Jayasuriya. he is a legend but i think his averages are not upto his standard of world class player.

Maybe because he was never a world class player.

That's a bit harsh. World Cup 1996?

He was a good one day player for a long time, perhaps one of the best in spurts. But that doesn't make him a world class player sorry.

Agree, very hit and miss. Was never a great player. A very good player in ODI's, he was either on or off though. No in-between.

i think he was world class player too as he started as a bowler than become allrounder than batting allrounder his game changed but not average because when I think his first couple of games his average was low and was batting down the order.
hassan raza another player comes in mind he started at young age then didnt do much.
Also asim kamal

Shahid Afridi , I expected more in batting from him.

Irfan Pathan - the future Kapil Dev went down the toilet as his pace crashed in a space of mere months. Tremendously gifted player, both with the bat and ball. Hope he gets a comeback, IMO he's the best all round option we have.

Always thought the comparison with Pathan to Dev was overhyped. Never thought he was that good.

But i remember him being compared to Akram more in his early days though..

Shahid Afridi , I expected more in batting from him.

I reckon if he had actually played according to the situation of the match when he came to crease instead of trying to hit a 6 off every ball, he would have been a player who would have averages around the high thirties at least in ODI Cricket right now.

It's all exciting when a new player first comes onto the scene and starts hitting big, however one must learn to mature throughout their career in order to cater their teams needs.

However, we are talking about Shahid Afridi. :p

Matthew Sinclair is a huge one. He's prolific every year in NZ domestic. He smashes attacks. In Internationals after his double hundreds he just lost it.

Michael Paps is the same. Every year he is one of the most impressive domestic players but internationally all he will be remembered for is getting hit in the head by Lee.

I thought he could have been a great international batsman

Virender Sehwag, the ODI player. Totally different player than the test game. The approach is the same but he never capitalizes.

Ramprakash anyone? Or did he reach his full potential and he is just terrible at the highest level?
