I hated Hoenn. Way to many water routes. Constant wild battles drove me mad. Stocked up on repels when I had to surf.

Your choice, but I liked that map really. Capturing the regis and battle frontier was fun.
I don't deny that Crystal/Gold were poor though. Only downside was that the Kanto gym leaders were underpowered in those games post elite four.

I really liked G/S/C and the HG/SS remakes because there was actually something to do after you beat the Elite 4. In other games there were sidequests but in those games there was basically a whole region left to go through, which was brilliant.

My mate was playing the new one (white) this morning on his DS so I got out my phone and started playing the one I have on there (red). Such an awesome game.

I still play Rome Total War a lot (albeit with a mod called Roma Surrectum II) - that's about seven years old now.

I haven't played any of the new games since Silver. Kept adding too many new Pokemon.

Red was the best game of the series. Brock was a bitch of a leader if you took, like most people, Charmander as yourr starter. My strategy was to get a Pidgey - get it to Lv 10. Buy loads of potions and go sand attack crazy. The goedude was blind before you know it.

The only problem with that was Metapod is a pain. Not old, but I've just started playing the English version of Pokemon Black

if you catch caterpie and evolve that metapod still has tackle, so it;s not too bad. plus it evolves really early

Yea but that tackle does nothing at all because of Metapods incredibly low attack.
