Pokemon Games

I started a new game the other day on FireRed.

Atm:

Charmeleon - 20 (One hits most things)
Pidgeotto - 18 (Pretty solid)
Beedrill - 13 (Pretty useless)

I'm probably going to train up one of Nidoran♂ or Geodude, I'm not sure what one atm, or I might just ditch Beedrill and train up both of them.

I'm still on the first floor of the mountain place, I'm having a complete blank and can't think of what it's called. I don't even know if it is called mountain something, I've just completely forgotten, lol.

I've heavily overleveled anyway, the wild Pokemon are like 10, and the trainers are like 15. Anyway at the start I don't mind overleveling, as then I have no problem beating the gyms early on, as fire's weak against the first two.

I wasted up the first proper rival battle as I forgot about it, so I went back after I smashed Brock, and I was five levels higher than his two Pokemon.

Mount Moon :p

Why did you train a Weedle up...

I don't like flying types either. Can never find any good reason to use one (except to have access to Fly)

That's true. They're effective against Grass and Bug but I just Fire type moves. Fighting is weak to Flying but then I use Psychic moves.

Just traded my Ancient Deoxys away for a Celebi and Mystic Bulbasaur. Don't mind that at all. A/S/D/M are meant to be worth 2 normal legendaries and 1 legendary is worth 2 A/S/D/M pokemon so really I should have got another Mystic pokemon but I don't think Ancient legendaries are quite worth 2 Normal legendaries, especially in my thoughts and Mystic is much better and I prefer Celebi a lot more to Deoxys and I'd rather complete my normal pokedex so I'm pretty pleased with that trade. Would have liked a Shiny Bulbasaur/Squirtle though.

I'm now up to Misty on FireRed:

Charmeleon - 25
Pidgeotto - 21
Nidorino♂ - 20

And me other three fillers atm are:

Beedrill - 14
Oddish - 14
Clefairy - 10

Clefairy's there just because I caught one, as they're extremely rare. It turned out to be pretty useless when I was trying to catch Abra though, as Abra's teleport went before Clefairy's sleep move. After like 10 go's trying all different moves, I just gave up.

You can unleash your pokeball/great ball on Abra on the first turn itself. It works sometimes.

I can't tell. Has worked many-a-times with me when trying to catch weak pokemon (in terms of base catch rate). You can just give it a try. :p

I tried to catch the early Pokemon on yellow health and it kept on failing, the likes of Ratata etc.

Even in this game I've failed a few times when they're on red, I never seem to have much luck throwing Pokeball's unless they're on very little red.

Assuming Abra has 25 hp at lvl 9, with a catch rate of 200, a = 67 with a Pokeball and 100 with a Great Ball.

Therefore the probability of it being caught is approximately 0.26 with a pokeball and .39 with a great ball

:D

If you wanted to be more specific you could calculate the probability with

But I can't be bothered

Wow. :spy

I got one Greatball, but I'd rather not waste it if it only increases the chance by a small amount.

I may just be cheap and turn off without saving, if it takes me more than like four balls or something.
