Rahul Dravid says Good bye to International Cricket

Here Are Rahul Dravid's Awesome Batting Records:

  • Second cricketer to reach 13000 runs in Test Cricket after Sachin Tendulkar.
  • When Rahul Dravid scored 54 against West Indies in the ongoing Test Series, he equalled Sachin Tendulkar record of most half centuries by and Indian Batsmen in Test.
  • Second highest run scorer in test (13262) behind only to Sachin Tendulkar (15432)
  • Highest run scorer in the 4th inning in test (1597).
  • Third player to score 12000 runs in test cricket.
  • Holds the world record of being involved in most century partnerships (87) in test.
  • With Sachin Tendulkar holds the world record of most century partnership (20).
  • Second longest streak of consecutive test matches since debut (94).
  • Equalled with Allan Bordedr in terms of number of half centuries (63) only behind Sachin Tendulkar (64).
  • Has scored century against each test playing nation while batting away from home.

  • Most deliveries faced in the history of test cricket (31029).
  • Highest number of runs by a No. 3 batsmen.

I honestly did not see this coming. Out of the trio, I thought Laxman would be the first to go.

He's been a great servant to the game, and a real gentleman to boot. Can't say I would miss him though.

The most dedicated player to Indian cricket EVER !
Wonder who would be No.3 now!? Likely to be Kohli but he is more of a No.4 batsmen.
BCCI to arrange a match for Jammy if he retires :)
Will miss my "IDOL" :)

A true legend of the game and will be sorely missed by India. This had to happen someday...........I would have loved it if he had retired after one last match at his favorite venue Eden Gardens.

With Dravid, my idol gone, I now don't feel like watching Test matches involving India anymore. Yes there is Sachin and VVS but well Dravid was in altogether a different league as a player and as person.

Dravid was never a crowd-puller, or that fascinating to watch. Can't understand all these posts saying they don't feel like watching Tests anymore.

It will be weird with Dravid's name not in the test squad . Not one of my fav players but a great batsman . I had thought Laxman would be the first to retire.

Dravid really is a legend.Always batted with patience.Technique was wonderful and you'll hardly find a flaw in his batting For me best test batsmen India has ever produced

Even in his last days you have got to praise his fitness and commitment.4th test vs England in 2011 he came as an opener, batted all through the indian innings, remained not outon 146,india was followed on so again Came to open the innings.truly a master :clap

The silky wrists of Rahul Dravid will not be present on a cricket field again, one of the most underated greats when compared to Tendulkar, Lara, Kallis, etc. Sadly he was India's only gentleman cricketer afaic. Thanks for all the memories Rahul!

Dravid was never a crowd-puller, or that fascinating to watch. Can't understand all these posts saying they don't feel like watching Tests anymore.

He might not be fascinating to watch for you !! Am not gonna quit watching Cricket because he isn't there. But to fill that No.3 slot is gonna take some time.

Well me too, just because one player has retired it wont stop me from watching the ultimate format of the game. Yes he is retiring a great player and the best quality of him was he wasnt selfish. Played for the country always and deserves a great farewell not like this. Call in Australia or England for a match and India show them we can win matches at home tbh

Rahul Dravid - certainly the best test player of his time, even better than Sachin. Under-rated, but certainly the best. Never wanted limelight, served the team with unmatched determination.

I hope that he does not retire, he has cricket left in himself. If someone out of the three needs to go, then it's either Sachin or Laxman, not Dravid.

Arguably the GREATEST test batsman INDIA ever produced...will miss him....one of my all time favourites...a Gentleman:clap.....LEGEND:)

i hope BCCI giv him a farewell match...prolly host a 1 off test match and let him retire with dat match....but i dont think its gonna happen....he has already quit the limited overs internationals...and scheduling for a test with da tight schedule india already has wont be easy:(...

Tell me a person you think who'll give up playing ODI's and T20 just for the sake of Test Cricket and play like him in Test Cricket.

Dravid never gave up ODI cricket voluntarily. He was dropped from the ODI side for a long time. Suddenly he was called back to the ODI side when he was in his final stage. And he promptly took up the opportunity and got a farewell end to his LOI career.

And regarding future players, I can't say and so can you. What if a Pujara or a Rahane in the future give up ODI or T20 cricket to play tests?
