Realistic goals for International Cricket 2010?

How would that solve it?! If you had just 30 overs in a days play, then a 90 over innings would be 3 whole days!! My best innings against the computer on hard was 119.4 overs. With your option of 10 overs a session, i would have just been in bat for almost 4 days! It would be a draw 95% of the time. I know you have the option to declare. but if your declaring in every innings then i just dont see the point. You may aswel just play an ODI.
For me, it just simply has to have an online save option.
Another thing to think about is how you would use the action cam if playing 2 player? Wouldnt 1 player have an advantage? If your batting and seeing the bowlers action cam, i see that being very hard to play.
So if playing 2 players on the same tele, i would guess you have to use the standard cam view.

I was hoping they let us choose the number of overs in a session, that way if we played 10 overs a session you could complete a test in one sitting.

Nah, don't like that idea to be honest. A test match should have 90 overs a day and it should play (somewhat) realistically.

But then it just isn't a test match, it just doesn't feel realistic

Well it seems now that only true cricket fans like test cricket. T20 is flavour of the month so thats the market that companies target. The smaller amount that anyone who makes cricket games concentrate on that form of the game, the quicker it will die. Even the indians now i see dont care for test cricket. At least attendences against south africa indicated that.
The country that i admire is bangladesh. Their support is always there and they lose 95% of the time. A fast improving nation that in 5 years i see being as good as the windies. (unless they get their act together)

The idea would be like how in football games the clock runs quicker without play speeding up. Perhaps 2/3 ball overs or something instead?

There's sacrifices to realism that need to be made to make a sport into a good video game, and when they are optional to do, it doesn't really impact realism.

2/3 ball overs would not feel like cricket. I would rather have the overs in a session configurable. There should be an option where user is asked to specify the number of overs in a session or there could be default values (10, 15, 20, 25 or 30) that we can select.

The advantage of having 10 or 15 overs in a session is that we will get to experience change in pitch condition over a test match. Right now a test match ends in a day or day and a half but if we have 10 overs in a session it will allow us to get the test match in to day 4 or 5 and experience the deterioration in pitch condition such as variable bounce, more help for spinners etc.

My point was either ignored or missed. But i say again........................

Doesn't matter. Doesn't seem like they've done any work on the test match mode according to the firstplay video so I wouldn't expect anything different from AC09.

I think you missed the point about configurable overs in the session. If you want to have 30 overs in a session, select the same. IMO 30 overs in a session should be default but option should be available to tweak the number to 10, 15, 20 or 25 as well.

For your information, this idea was first raised by Hmarka.

Who cares who came up with it, im sure many have thought of it.

The point is that by limiting the overs in a session we can actually play over a number of days and maybe even draw a match. Right now, thats damn near impossible offline and impossible online.

No point in playing 5 days if the conditions dont change throughout

why wouldnt they? Day 2 is Day 2, regardless of how many overs in a session

Mark, if you want a test match online, I'm up for playing one. We'll just have to choose the right time to play :) Obviously I'll apparently be hitting out at 300 RPO so some newbie member commented yesterday, apparently I'm unable to understand the way test cricket works.
