@masterblaster
bowlers confidence is linked to stamina, if im using 4 seamers and bowling well i have been able to bowl around 70 overs before requiring a spinner, rotate often and replace bowlers as soon as they start getting spanked, and this was in antigua in 30 to 40 degree heat, stamina goes up after drink breaks and sessions

Good. Perchance the stamina system is borked in the demo, because it was only unlocked by the extender - before the extender, there was no stamina changes at all.

What are you basing that on? They are currently working on a patch for the game, no details on exactly what it will be fixing, but it is on the way.

well if you say so, i will just have to taking your word for that mate. hope it will fix the real bugs such as runout, AI bowlers no ball, AI batting in test and batters playing back for full balls when. other then bowling speeds for english fast bowlers.. yes yes good old james can ball faster then 78mph but i can deal with it if other bugs get fixed

Suggestion for patch:

I would say the timing zone for the attacking shots must be reduced both for AI and human player on Hard mode at the moment the Hard Mode is way to easy. I have scored over 800 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in a test match without playing a single lofted stroke. But its too easy to get a perfectly timed shot which goes for four as the perfect timing zone on dark green is far toooo big! The perfect time zone must be reduced to may be a single bar for perfect balls and 2 bars for non-perfect balls. As in real life bowlers who bowl have atleast 2-3 dot balls in an over minimum even in ODIs.

You can leave it the same for t20. I believe this will also sort out the AI as most of the shots will not go for six or fours if the timing bar is reduced.
Also please provide the perfect bowling zone atleast on the off and middle stump line. All i am trying to say is the so called perfect yellow spot is non existent if you are trying to bowl on stumps. You have to bowl way outside off stump to get the perfect zone. Increase the yellow zone. As it will make the online play even better and also it will help keep the human run rate to realistic in all forms. At the moment there are only 2-3 perfect zones for each bowler.

For spinners this perfect zone becomes even worse. For leg spinner you would expect the bowl to pitch on and around leg and middle stump to get LBWs and bowled. Whereas in the game you have to bowl way outside off stump to be able to bowl in the perfect zone this sucks big time!!!!!.
Give us more perfect zone. There should be a significant difference in handling pace and spin. At the moment difference in the pace is not that much. The fast bowlers must be really quick so that it gives us less than a second to press the button as even in real life you have 0.5 of a second to react to bowlers like LEE and other quicks bowling at 90MPH. Keeper dives are unrealistic against the spinner.

Make edges zone smaller too so that we can have LBW's and leg byes. At the moment outside edge, inside edge and bottom edge occupies 3/4 of the timing bar which is very very big hence impossible to miss the ball and get LBWs unless you play down the wrong line. If the timing bar is sorted half the issues will be solved and if you can bowl in line with the stumps and it can be a perfect(yellow spot) ball we can get more LBWs and bowled online and against the AI too.

AI running must be sorted!
I ll add more if I find any other faults!

And thanks for bringing a patch it might not solve all the problems but it will reduce some. But I am hoping this won't be the only patch! In fifa there were more than 2-3 patches that made the gameplay perfect.

Also in real cricket perfect bowling zone is between 6-8M where there are lots of play and misses the AI hardly ever bowls in this range. Use the pitch pixels to implement this. This cannot be hard!. 6m length ball must hit top of off and not a half-volley.

Go on youtube and watch where Mr. Glen MC Grath bowls or for that matter there is an amazing video of bowling by Ambrose where he takes 7wickets for 1 runs. Look at where the balls are pitching.
Don't give us such a huge timing bar even for crap bowls maybe 2-3 balls in the entire pitching area of the bowler. As in real cricket only half volley and short balls outside off stump or straying down leg gets punished. Rest are good balls which the batsman hit to the boundary depending on their ability and not because the bowler is a part time bowler.

Could anyone tell me one of the 'smaller' grounds on the game? Trying to get 6x6 acheivement on xbox. Thanks :)

Just saw Youtube videos of gameplay. Console version look more tempting but still the unrealistic scoring rate is hindrance.

Shorten it into a list and post it here:

Edit: I think they'll make two patches and then leave it until the next game. Two should be more than enough to fix everything.

My copy (PC) is now on its way!

Whats the deal with these yorkers when playing online. I played 2 online games yesterday and both of the guys just gave yorkers to me the whole match. it is nearly impossible to play yorkers. you wana play somewhere else and the bat goes somewhere else. Then i did the same to these guys and gave them yorkers and both of them couldnt play. i think there is a problem with the game that you cant play yorkers. does anyone have the same problem? please do share.

and please advise how to play yorkers if someone knows.

Suggestion for patch:

I agree with this post 100%. Batting is far far too easy. If you play the ball into the gaps were there are no fielders then you will never get out as the zone for a perfect shot is far too easy to get. even with tailenders it si far too easy.

well guys i got the game yesterday for ps3
after a quick legends coaching i went straight to the match me aus vs eng 20-20
i scored 160 in my innings
the score looked good considering i was 5 down for 80-85
but what i have seen is batting is too easy as i scored that in my first match and that also on hard
bowling was not all that good with AI going bizzare n hitting every ball
i tried online but it was laggy and people quit too often
i was playing with one guy got him 4 wickets down for 4 runs and then he backed off too bad

Ashes cricket 2009 is a let down

after waiting for a new cricket game to come out on the next generation consoles for so long it is rather disaapointing what AC09 has put out. the animation is rather cartoonish ( ea sports cricket 07 is 10 times better in detail) though the gameplay is entertaining to some "extent"...... the feilding aspect is appaling, the batting is ok, the bowling is suspect.....all in all i give this a 5.5/10.......as a cricket fanatic i will just have to make do with it.....first online game i played i used S.Africa, my opponet used australia in a T20 ......Aus 249 all out(Ponting 94(58), Symmonds54(24), Steyn 3-45(4)....) i went in to bat and SAF was 161-1 after 12.4 overs (Gibbs 68(24), Smith 75*(37), Hilffenhaus 1-14 (1.4overs)..............before the dude ran away offline....the bowling and feilding aspect is quite hard coz whenever u set a feild to your bowling u either drop the catches or it always finds the gap

Played an ODI on Hard, and it was pretty disappointing. England made 265 in the 50 overs and was able to chase it down in 32 overs. All the wickets I lost were due to the lofted shots I played as I got bored. The AI was appealing for LBW's when the ball hit 2 feet outside the offstump. It would have been a wide had I not got the pad in the way. While one that was hitting the stumps was turned down by the umpire. If you keep playing ground shots, its hard to get out.
