Review Retail Version Impressions Thread

This is all I'm going to say to that:

:laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :rtfl

:sarcasm

:doh

I mean, seriously, calling me a child? All I said was that I consider the Xbox 360 an inferior system and therefore a downgrade; instead of either ignoring the comment, or posting something sensible as the other guy did who disagreed with what I said, you stated that I must have 'serious issues'.

As for the punctuation, if you know how to use it, and consider yourself to have decent English and grammar, it's natural to use it when typing. It's not a choice, it simply comes naturally.

By the way, you're the only person who uses so little punctuation here, so I don't know where you got 'some people' from.

Looks like you're the planetcricket version of what every forum has at least one of: The person that you should just put on the ignore list. So, that's what I'm going to do. Either way, I don't have any kind of obsession (if you want to write like a five year old, that's your poor lookout - people will treat you like a five year old) and will be only too happy to ignore your threads, since they're impossible to read anyway and many are quite nonsensical.

Bye bye. I only speak to children when they're talking sense.

Over and over again i have wrote and replied to your stupid childish remarks about my punctuation. I have told you over and over again to leave it but seem to naturally act like a child on several occasions could you please stop commenting to me with stupidity and just feel free to skip and growup and just move on as im starting to get a headache.

I dont use massives of punctuation as im on msn alot and you alot of slang ect so it doesent come naturally for me and i apologise for this, but now lets just drop this subject and move on to talk about what we are all goood at talking about which is cricket of course.

Matter closed.

Fine with me. Let's just put the whole matter behind us, but next time, don't say that a fellow forum member has 'issues' just because they believe a certain machine is inferior.

Anyway, peace.

Everyone has there opinoin on whats better and whats not so no ones ever gonna win lol

I Played both PC and PS3 Version of the game. I had more Suicidal AI run outs in PC than in PS3, I got to say none in PS3. As there was many chance for AI to got for suicidal run, but they did not.

I need to understand the bowling mechanism, because AI scored 342/10 in 37 overs in a ODI. I need to bowl too full in containing them, anything short of length is murdered. I'm not using spinners anymore in the game, A.Mishra went for 1/103 in 8 overs.:D

I went through Bowling Tips thread. Nothing i couldn't find anything conclusive about bowling. I saw people having the AI score 6-7 RPO in ODI. Any tips would be helpful.

So Called Ashes

This review is not to break any one's heart but it just what i experienced while playing so called Ashes Cricket 2009 in which ODI cricket is being played in white uniforms with awesome running between the wickets by the AI .After playing few games against the AI on hard i am sorry to say that this game is no way near a best game. It took Tramission more than two years to build this game and they mainly emphasized on the gameplay but what kind of gameplay they have worked on??? I managed to score 300 runs in 15 overs on Hard against AI in a 50 overs ODI match against India and in another match i scored 325 runs in 26 overs against SAF , i mean it way too easy and unrealistic also edges looks so stupid ,haven't seen edges like that in my entire life there is no sign of intelligence shown by the AI . Just hit hit hit and get out same as in BLIC 2007.
And this runout bug was also there in BLIC 2007 and they happliy carried it to AC09.Just press the Loft button and 98 times out of 100 it will go to the boundary. The good length is no way near a good length. How can you call a full toss delivery a good length delivery???????? It just Doesn't make sense...

I can go on and on but i am not finding it good to say so much negatives about this game but its just what's its in AC09.

Have a look at scorecards:facepalm

When will people start to appreciate the work done by codies? The next game will be much much better than this one. ;)

Yeah Right! This is what ppl said after BLIC 2005.

BLIC 99 is still the best cricket game IMO

^ LOL i was about to say that!

thanks for the review man! this game is very overrated!

nothing beats EA sports 07 which is crapy itself

Ashes Not a Review

I have been reading Soon Much people Review and so on, and to be honest, i have no idea why people degrading Ashes 09.
To be honest. BLC 2007 was on the worst Cricket ever Made.
But this Ashes is a good Game.

Most of the Complains are it's too Easy and SO on.
I have been playing Ashes for a while now on Hard. and I am personally having Fun playing it. it's More exciting then other Cricket came in recent time. To be honest only Downfall of this game is the Fielding when you have to Throwback at the stumps. it takes forever.

here are some of the thing you guys should do.
1. Put it on Hard <dont mean to be rude, but i have been seeing people posting records, with Cricket 2007 and they are playing Easy all the time>

2. Try not To Slog every single ball, learn to Defend the ball.

3. Edit your Team and bring down some of the Skills.

I know we want a game which is 100%, but it can Never ever happen. at least Codies are trying thier best to Give us Cricket, which we should be happy for.
tbh, I like BLC99, but now if i had to play it i dont find it Different From BLC 2005 nor Ashes 2009, because i can still hit ever ball for a 6. But its the way you Approach the game, if u want a Fair Game, Play like how Real life is Play, like dont hit every Ball for a Six.
and If you are Bowling. there is a Spot just a few inches away from Off stump where the Computer would defend your ball most of the times.

All I can say, we can't get a game which is 100%. Since Cricket Market is less.
and also it's up to you to make the Game realistic dont hit every ball for a 6.
beside the other Cricket i do Agree BLC 2007 was the worst ever. but I disagree about Ashes 2009, i find it better, Love to bat and Bowl in this game.

Unlike other sports cricket is a very hard game to get right.

When you think about it you've got the different types of matches test, ODI & 20 20. All of which are played completely differently from each other. The middle order slogging seems to work with 20 20 ok ODI 50% of the time works out ok but with test matches it doesn't work at all and can ruin a good game if the openers stayed in long enough to start a realistic match.

To get it right you'd have to program the individuals to play like their counterparts but then also either program them to play differently in each of the match types or make 3 different pontings for each match type with the match tactics required for each type.

I'm assuming to program ever single player to play like their counterpart (at least a little) and have different playing tactics for each of the match types would be time consuming or very hard to do. The other idea of making 3 different pontings each with the playing style for the three match types would again be even more time consuming and i don't know if that would work

Say they release a patch which gets rid of the middle order slogging and sucuide running the game may be brilliant on the test match side but we may then all complain cause the patch change means now we play 20-20s with the AI batting 40 off the 20 overs because they play far to defensivly for 20-20 cricket.

I could add more but i think ive covered the main points i feel about programming and making a cricket game.

Well I won't say the AC09 is perfect but it is so far the best game IMHO. I was a fan of BLC99 but it also had its issues.

I think I can gather a few as:
  • LBWs were so wrong and unreliable
  • No backfoot/frontfoot shots
  • Coming back to crease took ages
  • Game speed was too slow
  • Bowling was so boring
  • I could get very unrealistic scores batting on Hard by smashing all over the park

The AI is dodgy in AC09 but if you play against a human on Hard level (who actually knows what he's doing), you won't be able to score more than 150 in a T20. Online is set to Normal/Easy level and people get unusual scores as they keep hitting the ball.

Also, people stop comparing Cricket with Soccer. They are way different. For e.g., in Fifa, I just mastered a few skills and tactics which I kept trying to score goals. The AI had to work out a limited number of ways. In a Cricket game, just like the sport, apart from skills, its very hard to implement the AI which can out-think a human.

If you are going to think that the AI will get anytime perfect sooner, then I really doubt it. Since Transmission will be releasing a patch and God knows what they'll fix and can fix with it, I after listening to other Planet Cricket members, have change the skills, basically power and timing of each player. I am getting better matches. My highest batsman is rated 84.
