Rugby Union

I don't follow any Northern Hemisphere domestic rugby so I'd never actually heard of him, which is why I found it so funny, but from what I've heard and what you've said he's probably the right man for the job. They needed some serious changes after the World Cup, and this looks to be a step in the right direction.

The Fox Sports fantasy super 15 is up and running now if anyone's interested. I've been late to the party in previous years, since I don't get into footy mode until the real comp starts (NRL) :p

I can't really believe that the season starts tomorrow. The serious part of the cricket season (against South Africa) has only just started.

Well looking forward to the start of the Super XV, hope the Rebels make a better account of themselves this time round. Far better squad with additions of Kurtley and JOC but they do still look short up front.

Four New Zealand teams are in the top eight atm, despite the stupid conference system. The depth of Australian rugby just isn't good enough to sustain five competitive teams.

What a shambles this season has been so far for the Blues. I know it's not going to happen, but how good would it be if Sir Graeme Henry replaced Pat Lam at the helm.

If the Crusaders beat the Bulls tomorrow morning, four out of the top five teams will be New Zealand teams.

Blues really are shocking this season with their recruits I was expecting a lot more from them. Brumbies started the season well but those last 2 losses have dented that.

I can't believe that both the Crusaders and the Chiefs lost across the Tasman, which means that the top three New Zealand teams all lost this weekend, so now the Bulls have moved into first place. Things are really heating up for the 2nd and 3rd Wildcard places, with only four points separating 5th to 8th place, and the Reds are on the charge in 9th place as well.

A massive result for the New Zealand teams overnight, with the Lions upsetting the Sharks. That puts the Hurricanes into 6th place on points differential, with the Highlanders only one point behind the Sharks in 8th place.

Also the All Blacks squad for the Test series against Ireland has been named, with the major casualty being Andy Ellis. Weepu's got the nod ahead of him, despite not even getting on the field last night against the Chiefs. Seven new caps have been named as well.

Would say its bigger for the Reds as they are the more likely to make the finals with their draw. Hurricanes are up against it having to play the Crusaders and Chiefs. Highlanders have the advantage of the home game against the Chiefs but if they get past them then they have the Reds away.

The Hurricanes, Sharks, and Highlanders are currently 5, 5, and 4 points ahead of the Reds respectively, and in the last three rounds all of them have a bye. So effectively they're 9, 9, and 8 points ahead of the Reds with two matches in hand, while the Reds have three matches in hand.

If just one of those three teams win both of their remaining matches then the Reds are gone, unless one of the current top five teams capitulates down the table, which is unlikely considering that other than the Chiefs they all have at least one gimmie coming home. Even if just one of those three teams (Hurricanes, Sharks, and Highlanders) wins one of the their remaining matches, the Reds will still need to win all three of their remaining matches with bonus points, and hope that the other three teams don't get any bonus points. So overall I'm pretty sure that the Reds are gone, unless pretty much every result goes their way after the international break.

The Reds are on 44 points the same as the Highlanders and 1 behind the Sharks and Hurricanes.

Reds finish the season with Rebels away, Tahs and Highlanders at home so I'd back them to win all 3.
Hurricanes with Crusaders away and Chiefs at home so more than likely will drop one game.
Highlanders have Chiefs at home and then Reds away.
Sharks have Bulls at home and then the Cheetahs, the Bulls will be tough.

So the Reds are best place of the lot and more than likely will pick up 2 bonus points from the Aussie games.

The table I was looking at here has not updated the Reds with their Bye points this round, which is why I thought they were still on 40 points. So pretty much just ignore everything that I said before. :p

So Deans has now lost twice to Scotland, and once to both Samoa and Ireland, as well as suffering Australia's largest ever defeat...

When will they realise that employing a Kiwi wasn't the best idea?
First Scottish win in Aus since 1982 or something.
