Screenshots....disappointing

I think those of us who have said they are 'work in progress' are wasting our time, because people don't seem to understand the meaning of it, or are just ignoring the fact.

I think I'd like it more if the models were high detail, stylized caricatures of the actual players. That would be fun.

The press release in mid-March will be the real test so far. I look forward to it.

Work in progress screens - I don't think the proper pitch was overlayed on those, and the anti-aliasing isn't good (but that's the fault of the person taking the screenshots and not the game).

You'll hopefully be pleasantly surprised by the updated screens, coming out in a couple of weeks.

well in that case, i guess i passed a judgement a bit to early.

lets just wait and see what swordfish has in store for us.

I think the screenshots look a little 'cartoony' too, but what we're all after is a video game that plays like the real thing...the gameplay will decide the fate of this game not the graphics. Besides, they're not THAT bad, probably not what we were looking forward to.

PS. Anyone who thinks Cricket 2004's graphic are good hasn't played too many games...*cough* Madden.

As I'm sure you'll know already these are pre-beta screens and not really representative of what the final game will look like...

Cricket 2004's beta screens and the final screens looked the same. The only difference was Aouth Africa's kits.

looks more artificial, not like a realistic one, even ea has done better.
whats with the bat and the ump.?

The pitch & ground textures look excellent.

But player models look a bit crapy.Cric2004's was better.
...and the umpire isn't wearing hats.

where is the bowler lookin??

I've seen this in the previous BLC.I don't have that game but I've played it a few times. The bowler used to look to his left.

The ball looks like a ping-pong ball ;) (maybe because of the camera angle)

I thinkwe should wait till the demo to get a fair idea of the final product..hopefully people at swordfish/cm will correct some very obvious mistakes by that time like bowler in follow thru is heading towards covers ;) ..

The player models are actually quite a bit better than in c2004. Look at any of the replay style screenies, the models are very clean, the clipping seems under control and they hold the bat like it isn't glued to the wrist, suggesting good animation. The problems seem to be that some of the textures are over-detailed, like the pads. In reality the ambient lighting is enough to dull the shadows between rolls on the pads.

But anyway, I've done a rough little comparison. LOOK AT THE HANDS.
