Shoaib Akhtar to star in Bollywood!

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is planning to cast cricketer Shoaib Akhtar in his next film Gangster that will be directed by Anurag Basu of Murder fame.

Bhatt had initially approached Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham for the role, however due to their prior commitments both the actors could not take up the project. Since the character requires a brooding look combined with innocence and animal magnetism, when Basu mentioned that the character should be someone like Shoaib Akhtar, it was Pakistani actress Meera suggested why not approach Akhtar himself?

Meera who is a good friend of Shoaib spoke to him about the concept on Bhatt's behest. Shoaib is open to the idea and would be listening to the script shortly.

well we must agree that he will perform very goood as we all know that he is a very good actor in the field can't say much about off-field i am damn sure no cricketer would be better actor than him (i am talking about in-game acting) lol

Lot's of confusion. Mahesh Bhatt's agent (is it?) is saying that Shoaib sounded very positive and optimistic, and doesn't know why he would say no. Shoaib said, "My fans want to see me as a cricket star, not a film star."

Good reply by Shoaib Akhtar,Acting is just too much work and it also requires alot of work for some one new,And will kep him away for almost a year from cricket,

And if he was going to act if wouldn't do any good for his team selection.

Luckily he rejected and can focus on playing to playing County Cricket and getting prepared to get into Pakistani squad.
