try using the fields,i think it will be easier especially in odi's.Also im trying to bring in variable line and length so that cpu bowls a lot more balls on off stump. So im trying my best to get u all playing the game more often.I just hope i can crack this problem.

Are the fields working now?

Sure are dude, the fields are much better and realistic. A tad more aggressive but still room for bowling error to capitalise on, well that's when I learn how to bat again lol

Alot of the balls the CPU bowl are just begging to be hit with the Cover drive but it seems very ineffective, can't get enough pace on the strike, apparently holding down the button when you play the shot increases power but I can't say I have ever noticed that. And six hitting from the off is plain suicidal.

Will keep trying.

Another observation, say you have a game saved such as a domestic season, if you apply the patches then reload the game do they even work?

I think they will work on reloading.Try practising normal shots on the offside as im able to thread through the fielders for boundaries,so u basically need practice on them.

Its good to hear that u like my ai and fields, hope the others fell similarly.

Maybe its the positioning of my batsmen, going for say a straight drive.... usually the ball doesn't travel far at all and rolls to the fielder, where is the ideal place to position a batsmen? .....I just want to pick up a real cricket bat right now lol
Toes in line with middle stump, or off stump? Or even toes just outside off stump etc

Quite early in a ODI innings , it seems the only real shot options are Straight / Cover drives, leg glance ..thats about it simply because of the line and length of the bowling. In the practice nets I hit nearly every single ball perfectly timed according to that thing, I just simply cant get enough power to penetrate the field even if its hit pretty cleanly. Manage to play it between the fielders no problem, just solely not enough power there.

EDIT: I know the line and length issue is game related btw. Simply working with what we have is my prob.

Leg stump gaurd for pace bowlers and middle for spin i have found best, you may have to edit your field placings if you can, thats what i have done to make the game a bit more real,it will be harder in one dayers because of circle, dont be worried about having the fielders closer to the batsmen,by that i mean dont have all your fielders on the circle they will have too much time to cut off the ball try in out fields,it is a bit tedious but worth it if you get it right......

I moan about batting, and then go off to score 520 in a county test match, typical lol

The fields are fine if you ask me, seems to be one for every situation.

exactly right - all my fields have the fielders inside the circle, quite a distance inside the circle - increases the opportunity of more 1's and 2's

Hey sid, I think your field are really good. They have definately improved the gameplay in test matches. One small change that you could could make might be to move the long leg finer, as I am currently scoring a lot of runs down to fine leg (especially off the back foot, for some reason). Or maybe you could tweak the backfoot leg glance to not go so fine, or try a combination of tweaking/field adjustment.

Other than that, the fields are great, thanks!

I havent really seen anyone elses fields because i do my own,i think it is an individual thing really,i do have my fine leg quite fine and sq leg sq to cut off my main boundarys,i mtry to make the game challenging but not impossible,i play a lot of the longer form of the game just to see where shots go and how hard certain things are to do and then set the 1 day game up from that, like i said its a bit tedious but if you get it right its worth it.....

Can u be more specific pls?My fields have more fielders in the circle in ODI in first fifteen overs after that the field spreads for easy 1s,2s etc.So is there anything wrong with it or are u talking abt test fields?

Will make slight changes in test field in short fine leg area as too many runs could be scored there.

raider

With the fields have some fielders closer to the pitch and some on the circle, try not to have all fielders saving 1 run on the rest circle or it will be too hard to pierce the field,ie one on the circle at point and then short cover closer to the batsmen then another deeper ect,on the field ed when you place a fielder on the circle they are over half way to the boundary which is too deep if you have them all on the circle, just try a field with basic fielders really close to the pitch and you will be suprised where they end up in the game, sorry rambling a bit but hard to explain......

ok,i understand what u said, thanks for the suggestion,i will implement that soon and post in an updated fields attachment.
